From a pure dollars perspective, at the analyst level, are you really that irreplaceable such that the host country can't find another analyst who can do the job as well as you. It's an affordability thing most of the time. It's not common. There has to be a business justification first and foremost. If a practice is continually having to ship junior resources internationally to staff projects it points to a bigger internal recruiting and training problem at hand. Basically, you have to really bring something to the table to make it happen, and it can be a hard sell. I find that when it happens, you're taking advantage of an inefficiency in the staffing process.
Common? No, but it does happen. American analyst, in Toronto right now.
We have quite a few projects in Canada. I would like to go to the UK and my team does work with PwC UK. So there are opportunities. Just express your interest to your Coach/Partner/TFS(?)
Also, spoiler alert OP: if you do get a project over seas, it will probably be somewhere SUPER shitty. Buddy of mine got stuck on a six month project in bum fuck Saudi Arabia
Lucky u
I know of one in Europe, based in US right now
I started international travel my first year and have done so every year since multiple times ;)
If you want to go international apply for internal jobs in other countries. Friend resigned from ACN USA. To be hired by ACN UK
Yah but I don't want to move office. I want to be there for short stint (couple of months at a time) on ACN dime.
Get lucky, get a specialized skill, help sell something abroad, or get friendly with an important SM or MD
It's more common than you'd think. As an analyst/consultant, your rate is low enough and if you have a useful skill (data science specialty or multi-language proficiency) you will get sent all over. My first few years in consulting had me in Brazil, Colombia, Korea, and Israel. I think the combination of low rate + specialized skill goes a long way.
It went well. This interview was much more hands on than Accenture. Granted this is for M level. Will find out in few days I suppose.
Ugh wrong thread wtf
