Is it common practice for employee relations teams to have a policy that strongly discourages supervisors from corresponding with terminated employees? Cont’d...

...cont’d. A friend was unexpectedly let go from a company for not being a fit. The supervisor did not elaborate during the termination meeting why he wasn’t a fit either. A month went by, and my friend tried contacting the supervisor again to understand the reason(s) that factored into his termination mostly to learn from past mistakes, etc. The supervisor did not respond.

I asked my friend to consider the pandemic’s impact on the company, self-performance issues, and potential discriminatory reasons, but he vehemently believes neither were the case. He received severance and was also approved for unemployment insurance. He’s not aware if the company was laying others off either.

I’m encouraging him to move on and rely on his own intuition. He asked me because I work in HR, but I do not have experience in employee relations. I’m guessing the supervisor can’t to avoid potential litigation.

Tricare Q:

Vets using Tricare with a family. I’m out and can use Tricare with the VA, but my wife and I each use our company offerings for our family; which obviously come at cost. Is it worth it to switch to Tricare? Has anyone done this and can share details? Positives/negatives?

During the All Hands Meeting, the cohort grid slide mentioned no ‘Double Jumping’ in grids. Does that mean you can’t be promoted early? More direct question- Can you get promoted from SM to director in 2 years? Coz the grid says, you can progress to Director from SM1->SM2->SM3 and may be a SM4

*URGENT JOB NEEDED* - BDM/E-com account management roles
Hey all, as I see a lot of recruiters in this group I wanted to know if anyone is hiring for BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER or E-COM ACCOUNT MANAGEMENT or VENDOR MANAGEMENT roles.
My husband is relentlessly trying to get a job in Canada/US but he is getting either regret mails or no response for referrals.
It would be really helpful if there is anyone is hiring for such roles or if you can refer to those roles in your organization. TIA :)

Am I being too judgmental? During the interview process I ask questions that help me identify culture. During my recent interview I directly asked “How would you describe your culture?”, and it was described as “work hard, play hard”. I expected a much more meaningful reply. Thoughts?
