It's possible that you just didn't get your doses right. I had that happen with my first couple rounds of letrozole. I ovulated on the first cycle and 2nd cycle I didn't. Upped the meds and I ovulated. Got the dosing of the letrozole right and we manage to get me ovulating every cycle
You may just need a higher dosage. My first pregnancy I used one dosage of letrozole and with my second pregnancy they had to switch it up and change the dosage because the original one wasn’t working for me anymore.

Also depends what the clomid is helping treat- if you have PCOS clomid is likely to be less effective and you should ask to try Letrozole
