Is it considered unreasonable or rude to ask recruiters to provide JD and compensation range before the first phone conversation.? I feel that would save all involved precious time.

Nope. I don't take calls unless they send me the stuff. The good ones will comply. Ones fishing for your resume won't

Same

Do it all the time. Saves time for everyone.

I do too - just write it in a friendly way and add a line about saving everyone time. And you have your template reply going forward.

I used to wait, but it wastes too much time. Usually recruiters will ask at the end of the first exploratory call. If they don’t, I ask.

Nah, I straight up tell them my comp expectations so they can put it in their database and not hit me up unless it’s real.

I was sent a JD after a phone convo and it didn’t include the discussed comp (or any for that matter) and a majority of the description was related to mgr sales 🤨

What to do when HR for an in-house role sends you an email with four interviews set up for next week without having had a phone conversation first? I have no sense of what the salary is for this role. I do not want to waste my time or the time of the four people I am scheduled to interview with. I thought that with most in-house roles, there would be a conversation about that first to make sure everyone is on the same page. 😩

Been getting approached by multiple recruiters for boutique consulting firms, and salary expectations never seem to align (mine are too high). I’m an experienced A in S& up for promotion fairly soon, which is why I benchmarked my salary expectation to SA level (140k base - even gave a slight discount there). More details: I’m happy where I am, with no great desire to move. Should I generally be setting lower expectations? What would your considerations be?

Received a job offer that was same title and pay. After hearing more about the position, I felt that it was more senior. Asked if they were open to bringing me on as a senior, and they happily agreed….. except when I got the new offer, it was still the original salary lol. I don’t want to come off as greedy, but this feels odd. I really love the place and the people I’ve met, but this gives me doubts

I recently moved to Sweden to work as a consultant. But I'm facing problems with all documents issuing processes, that take too long, and without all the documents I can't open a bank account to receive my salary. I'm starting to freak out about this. It seems it's a common situation for foreigners but most consultant companies don't do much for help us - I know some people that only received their salaries after 3 months. As I'm too stressed about it, I can't sleep well and focus at work...

Received an offer in hardware/tech (think the Ciscos, Western Digitals, Intels) in San Jose. Base 120k, 10k signing bonus, 15k relocation, 12k RSU over 4 years (3k per year). I have 2 YOE in consulting. Is this a competitive offer?

Newly promoted experienced hire SC making $113k, 10 YOE (switched industries). Got an offer from TCS in an Advisory practice (not the tech sweatshop stuff that I keep seeing people mention). Base salary is $190k and in TCS equivalent of a M role. Downside to taking the salary hike and boomeranging back to D in ~2 years? FYI - I have 2 kids, so that kind of pay raise is kind of a big deal.
