The person I'm training is a new AE who has relatively no sales experience and came in making way more than what I started at. Their base pay is almost the same as mine and I'm a tenured Senior AE. It's ridiculous and a total slap in the face that I now have to train this person. The pay disparity between men and women here is insane after hearing more similar stories from my peers. Indeed pretends to be all about equity and social justice. However, it's all just smoke and mirrors.
I recently got a very good offer from AWS, the only problem with the role is that it is an individual contributor role. I currently am a software engineering manager and manage 2 teams but I was severely underpaid. Maybe and maybe not. Really will depend on the orgs. I would say that f500 probably has more seats available for higher levels, but also may not have your personal growth as a priority. Startups may have less seats available but may need you to take on the responsibility dinner. Both size companies can be driven by politics - you may have an easier time transferring internally in a big company if that becomes an issue.
This is all why it’s important to ask about progression expectations.
