This has been my experience but do y’all think recession/layoff don’t usually affect accounting professionals much as compared to other fileds? I mean we all should have at least one positive thing to be accountant haha.

SO got fired a couple of weeks ago and has been close to finding work more than a couple time but gets rejected at the final round. Any advice on what I can do to help him feel better about himself? It’s hard to see someone I love struggle

My company (startup) emailed us today and told us that there will be layoffs coming… they haven’t told us details beyond that, but I’m worried about myself and my team. No question just want to vent, I can’t sleep. Feel so disheartened

I have chronic health issues and I’m severely depressed. I can’t even get myself to work anymore. If I don’t quit, I’m in serious danger of being fired. I feel that I need to just quit and take time off to get better but feel that it will be a stain on my career. I’m a pretty junior lawyer. Any advice. I just can’t do any work at all and I’m my anxiety and depression is spiraling out of control. I see a therapist I try to cope and it’s not working.

Just heard a company I used to contract with announced 150 ppl are getting laid off. Nowhere near all but a handful of them made my life hell. I can’t help but smile and hope the handful is whose getting laid off.

Advisory The great resignation period is getting over. Due to global macro economic conditions, we’re under recession, inflation is all time high. many companies are starting hiring freeze(some even starring soft layoffs) , be extra careful when planning to join some startups, may not be a great time.
