Is it ethical or safe for a fully vaxxed person to fly after confirmed, close exposure to covid during the Thanksgiving holiday and weekend? Does that travel pose a risk to others? Should they voluntarily quarantine for 14 days?

From the CDC website (tldr, wear a mask but no need to quarantine): Quarantine if you have been in close contact (within 6 feet of someone for a cumulative total of 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period) with someone who has COVID-19, unless you have been fully vaccinated. People who are fully vaccinated do NOT need to quarantine after contact with someone who had COVID-19 unless they have symptoms. However, fully vaccinated people should get tested 5-7 days after their exposure, even if they don’t have symptoms and wear a mask indoors in public for 14 days following exposure or until their test result is negative.

It is neither safe nor ethical to spread the virus when you may be a host. This goes for COVID and also the flu - don’t spread your germs to others. Just because you might not die from it doesn’t mean that everyone around you has the same robust immune system.

5-7 days to test out after exposure...but yes, you should quarantine until then

like

Per the CDC, vaccinated people do not need to quarantine after contact with an infected person unless they have symptoms themselves.

I thought vaccine protects you from Covid

“the — the various shots that people are getting now cover that. You’re OK. You’re not going to — you’re not going to get COVID if you have these vaccinations.”

Looks like you have a long drive ahead. Stay safe!

Thank you all! A short quarantine and covid test in a few days may be good next steps.

Take a test within 48-72hrs. If negative and you feel fine - go for it. If positive (obviously) or you show some symptoms - I’d avoid

At this point, basically anybody who’s flying unvaccinated is making a conscious decision to risk infection. As a vaccinated person, it’s no longer my responsibility to take extraordinary measures to protect people who have chosen to not do the bare minimum to protect themselves. This goes for adults unable to be vaccinated, for whatever reason, too. If I have symptoms I will continue to quarantine, but I’m not cancelling a planned flight because I might have come in contact with an infected person in order to protect people who aren’t willing to put in a baseline amount of effort to help themselves.

EY1 — did you even read what I wrote? I’m not seeing how your comment has anything to do with what I said.

+1 take a test and wear a mask

At this point, unvaccinated people getting on a plane are playing Russian Roulette with it anyway and, presuming no medical conditions which prevent vaccination, probably aren't worried about catching it either way. Fly home.

The responses to this post are astonishing. All I read and hear is "follow the science". The CDC guidelines are supposedly based on science. Those guidelines do not require quarantine for an asymptomatic vaccinated person, yet most of the responses are telling OP to quarantine...why are you not following the science?

I would isolate and test 5 days after exposure. But I’m generally overly cautious. Per the CDC you don’t have to. Go with whatever you feel comfortable with.

per CDC, you can travel. so, to them, it’s safe. my $.02 - it’s ethical if you are without symptoms, wear a mask, and monitor yourself. i would try to test before travel, if you can, even if it’s within the 48-hour window. you’re doing what you can to be safe and careful.

No need to quarantine but should wear a mask in public spaces/ when around people you don’t live with for 14 days from date of known exposure. If you get symptoms make sure to test, also good idea to test 5-7 days after exposure to make sure even if no symptoms.

Also to answer your question, travel is fine, wear a mask, those around you over the age of 5 should be vaccinated or know they’re risking infection themselves by traveling. There is an inherent risk to everything in the world of COVID but we have to get used to that, it’s not going away. Vaccines protect against severe disease, death, and LOWER chance of infection but do not 100% prevent it.

Not really sure what board is proper for this. But has anyone had an experience where your boss required paperwork for a raise? I started my job as an account manager at a less than reasonable salary, but I was under the impression that I would be able to grow and would have help. A lot of work is dumped on me at one time and all the responsibility falls to me, it's often way to much work for one person. I tried to negotiate a raise with my boss and lead with the fact that I was moving to the area and the salary was not conducive to rent here. He cut me off after my first point and said he'd figure it out. I never got to tell him about my workload. Long story short he required a lease agreement for me to get this raise. It took quite a while to get one... had a few places fall through. My landlord is in the middle of moving so was only able to forward me a PDF of the document that was unsigned, until she has time to meet. Now my boss wants a signed lease with all my roommates signatures too. This is not part of the contract I signed that simply says "provide a lease agreement"... tips?
