Is it feasible to make a jump from BizOps to TAS? No accounting experience. One of my good friends says his team is aggressively hiring because they are desperate for talent and he would be able to get my foot in the door. I’m a finance major who has only had consulting/industry experience, but if they’re actually paying what he says they are then it’s a no-brainer for me to jump if given the opportunity - I’d just be worried about failing without a CPA/truly relevant work experience.

This would be an odd jump. Most people in TAS are trying to exit to a biz ops role. If your friend is at Alvarez & Marsall, know that their pay is not the norm for TAS and you’ll get the golden handcuffs. They have insane bonuses due to how they are structured (low overhead to admin staff like big 4). If you are chasing comp, you’d be better off upskilling and getting a new role in biz ops at a better company or in T2 consulting

I came over from BizOps at the beggining of this year. You learn as you go. As long as you know the basics of GAAP, I wouldn’t be worried about not having a CPA. Just be prepared for inconsistent hours and unspoken expectations. I’m glad I made the move. Feel free to DM me if you have any questions

Thanks! I’ll definitely DM you.

TAS requires an strong accounting foundation and I’m not sure if someone without that would really enjoy the work tbh

Is investment banking really that pathetic as a career? Thinking of getting into IB. I have 1 year in tech consulting, and 1 year in strategy consulting. I’ve been working with financial services and automotive clients. It seems easier to break into EB IB than MBB, and my goal is to exit into PE, preferably without getting a top MBA. Is it worth getting my wlb hit for 1-2 years?

Hi all! Curious if anyone has insight into the first round interview with team manager at Google (post recruiter screen). It’s for a biz ops role and the recruiter said the call would be just behavioral. Wondering if anyone got case/problem solving questions in the first round or if those were for the final round. Trying to figure out best way to allocate preparation time. Many thanks 🙏🏻

Zscaler sales position vs EY? I’m a technical guy and I’ve been at EY 2 years and can’t stand that they AGAIN made the mistake to staff me on a non-tech compliance audit rather than a technical or strategy project. I hate it. Recruiter reach out for a technical sales position at zscaler.. would y’all consider? long term what would be the best? figured out I don’t wanna be in a compliance role. but I like leadership (e.g. would love to be a CISO in a manufacturing company-but not a tech co/bank)

Hello !! I am in the process of interviewing for a Product Manager position at PayPal - in their Global Pay Later team. The recruiter emailed me saying I have a last phone interview with the peer director of the director who interviewed me. Any insight on what to expect ? I have another offer on hold.

Going from audit to advisory to a competitive firm after 1 year of audit. However, start date is not until Jan 10 at new firm. My wife is still in grad school, so I’m the only earner and we will have lots of loans soon. so even missing 2-3 weeks of pay is missing out on a big opportunity of loan pay down.

Do you have small talks with your manager and directs? Feel like an as*hole for not liking it. My boss likes to start our 1 on 1s with topics around family, trip plans, hobbies, and other small talks. I don’t care how his weekend was. Or his baby. And personally I don’t like sharing much about my family or personal life so the small talks thing is very annoying to me. The in hand salary was low and I can barely cover my fixed financial commitments and basic needs.
