Is it good to stay back if current employer matches same package of new employer during retention interview? I believe the growth will be less and there will be change in treatment. Any experiences?

Get laid off, have to go back to home country.
Get a new offer from Company B sometime later, who is willing to sponsor H1B.
Would the H1B lottery have to be redone by Company B? Or can a previous instance of being selected in the lottery be used?

Also, similarly, what if you go from H1B (Company A) to F1 to H1B (Company B). Does Company B have to apply for the lottery again? TIA

I’ve always thought climbing the corporate ladder is what needed to be done to be successful, and I’ve worked hard to do that. Every job has always been a role up from the previous and with an increase in pay. However at 36, I’m realizing that is no longer what I want to do. I don’t care about climbing the ladder, I’m content with making a livable wage and being at the role I’m in now. The older I get the more I lose interest in pushing to get to the top.
