Is it hard to boomerang back to the same firm and group if you venture out to a different B4 or to industry? I love the people and team I work with but feel so underpaid that I almost want to hop to see what it’s like and then come back if it doesn’t work out. I feel like I’m too loyal.

I boomeranged twice to EY, first time to a different group but the second time was back to the same group. If you do it right and have honest conversations about your career and where you want to take it, leave on good terms, then show what you’re bringing back, should be no issues with boomeranging.

Was leadership supportive of you leaving snd coming back?

Also, when you boomeranged back, was there an official position or did you just have conversations with leadership?

Yes it happens all the time. If your current firm likes you, they will try to match what the competitor is willing to pay.

I don't see you would be burning bridges with the company you are receiving the offer from. I have done that. They understood that my current employer will try to keep. I think employee retention is very keen to business success so they will understand.

smart

Happens all the time. My Director did exactly that and said it helped their career but also brought in some extra creds into our team from their work with another firm

Yea. I’ve been looking around on LinkedIn and see people leave and then come back but just not sure.

Hi! First time poster :)

Currently in-house at a large CPG corp and in the beginning stages of vetting out an agency opportunity to head strategy for a division with ~clients. What do pay ranges and role titles look like on the agency side?

For context, i have 10 years of brand marketing & comms experience working on national brands and am looking for the equivalent of brand side director level or above.

Any insight would be so helpful!
