Is it hard to go from tax senior to just a regular accounting position? I’ve applied but no offers. I have my CPA

It can be a little bit harder but may be worth connecting with a recruiter to help get your foot in the door. I transitioned from being a tax senior to an accounting manager at a PE firm a couple years ago.

Gotta be firm in what you want and don’t waiver. Also not gonna lie, it takes a lot of trial and error to find a good recruiter so you may need to meet with a few of them before find one

I was a tax senior and was looking to switch over to a regular accounting position. Talked with many recruiters and some said it’s not possible (this is complete bs) some said it’ll be a bit of a pay cut bc they’re most likely looking for candidates that have experience in gl accounting and etc and some said it is best to find a role that would be hybrid btw tax & accounting so you wouldn’t have to take a pay cut to enter as entry level bc of the tax experience and also be exposed to accounting. Small family offices are the way to go for this. I was told to build my accounting experience this way for a couple of years and transition out

It can be a bit tricky especially if you've specialized a lot in tax. Employers might see your tax expertise and wonder if you're the right fit for a more general accounting role.

Interested to see some perspectives - currently working at a Payroll & Benefits Specialist at a fast growing company and recently passed my PHR! I just started this role only a few months ago but am already feeling like I can take on more, but not as much as a HR manager. I’m struggling to understand where exactly it is I can go from here. I’m 25, have 3 years of experience, and get paid $59k/year.

Where does one go from here? Thanks in advance for any and all answers!

Help? Been offered a business development role at GLG. I work in commercial banking.
Got 24 hours to respond. I am a finance analyst but offered a job in the team and wondering how hard do they go in on sales? They said no financial targets until year 2 but I’m sceptical.

I’ve never done sales before either and the job involves prospect and account mapping.
I was offered the job due to my transferable skills.
I will be in a small team of 4 but my role is the only business development position.

“I feel like I’m the stupidest person here”
“You are not stupid. You literally work at one of the top consulting firms in the world”

Hi folks, I am working with a few friends on a fintech idea. I opted to build the marketing roadmapping strategy for the soft launch/prototype phase as I want to learn about the field. Any guidance where should I start? Any guidance, books, topics will be helpful 😊

Hi, folks I am working as market research analyst at a startup company for last 9 months. Currently I am feeling work is kinda boring and also there is no scope for growth and learn new things in the company. Is it's better work at the same company to gain some experience or leave company and join MBA course so that I will get better placement in big companies where I can learn new things.

My total experience is around 7+ years and am currently working in a MNC from the past 4 years. I was planning to make a switch to some other company but recently my manager has mentioned to me in person and as well as on my appraisal feedback (in writing) that I will be nominated for the H1B visa in the coming cycle. This was in July 2022. Should I be worried that it won't happen or should I start looking for the switch.?

Which came first: the decision to get an MBA or the career you want to move into?

Any tips for a paralegal who wants to transition to an in-house position? I have 2.5 years of para experience and a decade of admin experience. I have my BA, AS, and AAS which are all related to the paralegal field, and various applicable certificates. I'm also working on my master's in management with a concentration in agency administration. All job postings I see want you to have a certain amount of in-house experience.

How to push for promotion? I am doing much more and much better than peers at the level above me. Ie: level of hires, time to fill, number of hires, building partnerships with internal stakeholders. Being recognized by candidates, hiring managers, nominations for awards each quarter, winning a couple. Been in this role for 1 year, foot on the gas the whole time.

A sincere advice for people in the age group bracket 22-26 years (max)

Get out of these shit IT corporate world.

Start preparing for SSC CGL(mainly target this exam). There are a hell lot of opportunities if you clear this exam and these jobs provides a lot of job respect in the society.
Even if the salary is 60-70k (starting salary) but the job security and the facilities are simply incomparable with the IT jobs.

Don't waste your time & energy in the ruthless labor market just for money.

Hello Everyone,

I have been working as an Associate PO for over 1 year now and would like to understand how do I better myself at the job role. Are there any specific certifications or courses that I should look forward to completing to get a better edge. Also would like to know what could the future hold from here (potential roles, jobs, etc.).

Any help would be appreciated.

I’m looking for some advice and/or to vent a little. I’ve been looking for a sales job specifically to pivot into tech sales and I’m getting rejected non stop and it’s really starting to weigh on me and ruin my confidence.

The positives are, I’m actually getting interviews- about 5 so far, I get to the later/last rounds but can’t seem to close the deal. I’ve tried learning from each experience, and taking that as growth for the next interview but it hasn’t worked.
I have 7yrs total sales exp.

I figure if anyone can understand this, it’s you all. I feel like I’m losing my damn mind. I have always loved communications, and I’m really good at it. But lately I’m so tired of politics and toxicity that I it’s sent me into a depression tailspin, on top of a pretty severe mid-life crisis. Two and a half weeks ago, I quit my job with nothing lined up. Not the smartest thing I’ve ever done, but I kind of feel like self-preservation was at work here. I want to do work that makes a difference. ☹️

If you get a job and they run the background check will your employer know?
