Is it hard to switch from a non-big 4 accounting firm to a big 4 accounting firm? Also are there any jobs at big 4 that don’t require 60+ hours a week?

I think city matters... if you’re in NYC looking at big4 with less than 60 hours maybe you could be an admin or something.

Probably more like office services than an admin. An admin is probably putting in 60+ 😂

Stay at Baker Tillly if you are looking for that easy schedule.

B4 NYC - I work about 45-50 in non-busy times, 60-70 in busy season. Year-round SOX work and new firm initiatives (data analytics and others), balanced with the lack of staffing keep me busy year-round.

If you go Midwest, 60 hours is the norm during busy season at Big 4. Come to Milwaukee, we are hiring ;)

B4 people- do you work 60+ hours all year around, or just during busy season?

Our busy season is now year round

Background:Asia, expecting to promote to M this cycle. Looking for some advice on being headhunted/jumping ship. I’m speaking to HR from another big 4 + a recruiter for another firm for an M role, and it looks like the $ and potentially benefits will be bigger, but I’m not that keen on moving unless the $ is a huge jump. Any advice on how I might navigate this? Have interviews next week for the other roles.

Hi Tax Bowlers, I'm an experienced associate (2yrs) in a Big 4 Transfer Pricing division. I have reached a point in my career where I am considering taking up a professional certification. Several colleagues recommended taking up either ACCA or CFA, however, I see little connection between these certifications and the work that I am currently doing, and what I plan to do in the future. What would you guys suggest? Would it be detrimental to my career if I did not take up any certifications?
