I would say coincidence - Trump was an idiot with no grasp of geopolitical dynamics in the region and Kushner is a lightweight. They empowered bibi and set the stage for this incident, ignored the Yemeni conflict, refused to pressure MBS over his coup and murder of journalists, and generally contributed to the deterioration of the region.

What about the Yemeni civil war? Iran and Kurds clashes? The Turks? What about when we killed an IRGc leader extrajudicially and narrowly missed out on starting a massive war in part only because they accidentally shot down a passenger plane?

You are new here. These flare ups have been “on repeat” for the last 100 years. It has zero to do with Trump.
It’s like when people say that Trump didn’t get us into new wars. There are bad wars and then there are necessary wars. History will determine which is which. But we weren’t going to get into a conflict with, for example, Russia when trump was busy kissing Putin’s butt for four years. Anything trump accomplished on the international stage is pure luck and happenstance. The man is a total lightweight buffoon.
For sure, Trump was no genius. But Republican administrations tend to be more opportunistic in how they can cut back door deals with dictators, authoritarian and corrupt regimes while Democrats tend to take more righteous positions that don’t necessarily end well in a realistic geopolitical landscape. Trump’s affinity to people like Putin, MBS, Netanyahu, Modi etc. probably amounted to something that could avoid major eruptions. Not saying it is prudent foreign policy, but it probably just worked.
You are just repeating party propaganda (for both sides) here by describing Republicans as cunning and Democrats as idealists. Both sides are capable of good, evil, cunning and idealism.
A liberal would never give trump credit even when it’s due so
He's the world's biggest victim
Remember Iran? We bombed them last year and they bombed us. I would call that a flare-up.

Iran fired missiles that struck a US airbase in Iraq (what a messed up sentence) in January of 2020. Any amount or violence in the area that was prevented was likely a result of a transfer of soft power. We largely took a backseat to many ME powers and let them do whatever they want. Whether that is a good thing or not, will be determined in the future by some historian probably.
Israel was just as aggressive during trump, pushing new settlements because it knew trump had its back. Maybe hamas didn’t fight back as much at the time, I really don’t know. Maybe it knew that trump was backing Israel so it remained quiet. But that doesn’t mean that trump was some kind of peace keeper. Just like the lack of rebellion in North Korea doesn’t mean Kim jung un is a great peace keeper for the country.
