Is it just me or are the hotels in Atlanta all not very clean? I keep striking out with hotels and don't know if the novelty of hotels has worn off over time or if this is a problem in Atlanta?

Avoid the W Midtown. I've had great luck with W Downtown and Westin Downtown.

like

Not just you. Sheraton downtown is downright gross

like

W Buckhead has a crappy set up to the rooms, but I’ve never had an issue with cleanliness. Also the restaurant is great.

like

Which ones should be avoided?

Westin downtown is solid. Westin north side is not. W downtown was decent.

@pwc1- I've stayed at the Westin Atlanta airport, Courtyard Georgia Tech, W Midtown, Sheraton downtown, Twelve Atlantic Station, and W Buckhead. The only one that wasn't disgusting was the W Buckhead but it's just too far from my client (traffic gets bad). Many of the hotels also have terrible street noise regardless of where your room faces.

Marriot Marquis has been great on the elite/renovated floors. Ok breakfast and downtown.

A big law associate recently asked me to refer them to a product counsel role at my company. I later found out they withdrew themselves and when I asked why they said they didn't like the fact that they would be reporting to an attorney who didn't come from big law. Is this a legitimate/commonplace concern among associates? I was a bit thrown off.

I want to ask to change my hours from 8am -5pm with an hour lunch(which I rarely take!) To 7:30am - 2:30pm with no lunch. My child is starting kindergarten and I want to pick her up from school and spend evenings with her. Getting off at 5pm I would be in traffic and probably won’t get home until 6pm where I would have to cook dinner. This leaves me with about an hour to spend with her before bed time. Anyone work these hours in HR? Wondering the odds of this being approved?

Looking for MBA admission advice for my brother >>> After 10 years of coaching a college team sport, my brother wants to pivot, get an MBA from a top program, and join MBB. This is mostly driven by a desire to have a higher salary and different quality of life. He is planning to apply in 2023, so there’s time to prep. Please share your advice for 1) MBA Admission consultants you recommend, 2) what you think would resonate in an application essay, and 3) other general thoughts on this plan :)

I saw a lot of bad client PPT templates out there.

Today I saw one that had a weird background on standard slides. I thought to myself OK its maybe a bit old fashioned but it wont hurt.

When I went into presenter mode I realized that this background was a video - on every. Single. Slide. Constantly moving like a waterfall. File instantly 20 MB large.

Someone must go to jail for this 🙃

Do folks in tech reach higher levels of compensation than consultants 5 to 10 years post MBA? I still keep in touch with many of my classmates who made a beeline to work for FAANG firms post MBA, and their compensation absolutely dwarfs that of MBB and Big 4 by a fair amount and the gap only seems to widen with time. The wlb, by all accounts, seem to be much better too.

Would love to hear from anyone else who made a similar move or knows others who jumped to tech?
