Is it just me or does anyone sorry worry what's going to come up on a background investigation. Like no matter how many times I do it I'm still worried.

Lol, nope. When I did my bar admittance interview the interviewer asked me about my felony conviction. When I kindly informed him that I had never been convicted of anything, like ever. He said “it’s ok you don’t have to lie, you will still get admitted.” Turns out he was looking at the folder of the next candidate he was meeting with. Kind of quelled my concerns about anything in my actual background being a red flag.

I worry even though there's nothing bad that'll come up. I think it's just because I've watched too many crime investigation shows. One time when an employer told me they didn't find anything, I blurted out "that's interesting" so then they asked what they missed 🙃

I haven't. I've seen a copy of the one for when I got a security clearance because it was offered to me.

I’ve never had a background investigation performed, despite working for two big law firms and several small and mid sized firms.

My worry isn’t about my own background, but the (in)competence of the researcher. When I had one done awhile back, the researcher failed to record that I was still currently employed despite being told this by HR, which triggered a minor kerfuffle and a number of phone calls.

Yes even though I’ve not even had a speeding ticket in over 10 years. But I also helped out someone who learned of an 8 year old warrant during a job background check. It was just for an unpaid ticket (that had actually been paid but not corrected in the system). We got it corrected and they till got the job but needless to say it caused them a LOT of stress.

So I met up with an old friend of mine and she is not working at the moment. She was a senior level auditor. How does one even prioritise work life balance at Deloitte USI?
Juggling a very tough situation at home with loadsss of work.
On top of that, 60-70% colleagues I met are eager like a hungry jackal to snatch any credit for your work. Unplanned meetings, less room to grow and many other factors are leaving me low on energy each day! Finding it unsustainable to carry on any longer. Sad to see the dearth of leaders believing in quality of work and a culture of transparency & well being

I’m currently working at a law firm in San Diego specializing in coastal property rights as a litigation paralegal and legal assistant. We received a minute order from a preliminary injunction hearing. Our client was ordered to post an injunction bond of $2,500. First our client walked to the courthouse to try to pay the bond up front, but they would not accept his money. He tried to call several bond companies, but all said the amount was too small. So how do you post an injunction bond?

I am seeking advice on my first job as a lawyer out of law school. Fortunately, I received offers for an in-house position and with a law firm in their corporate department. The salary for the in-house position is $110k and $170k for the position at the firm. I have 2 questions.
(1) is it detrimental to my legal career if I go in house first; I hear there is no better training than firms. (2) how long can I wait until I respond to my offer from the law firm? Thank you!

First year family law associate..I only have 1160 billable hours done for the year (I’m including what I expect to bill in December as well). Given I only make $80,000 a year, is that reasonable? Or is that a super low number and should I expect to be fired soon 😂. My target billables is supposed to be 1680 a year. Also my hourly rate is only $109 because all we do is legal aid here.

Client called me an 'idiot' and asked me to be removed from case. (I read it as defensiveness). Partners want to see if they can mend the relationship (so I can remain staffed as I know the case best).
