Is it just me, or does big 4 work more weekends than ACN...seems that accounting culture spills over. I've never had a manager ask for my weekend availability nor heard of it happening

In my experience any weekend work has been a result of my own procrastination or a fire drill. in 3 years I've probably put in <5 hrs of weekend work

like

Eh, I usually work about a 35 hour week. I am extremely protective of my weekends and nights. I think it's always up to each employee to protect their free time n communicate that the weekends are ours.

Lol @ 35 hour week....

I think people often exaggerate how much they work no matter where it is. It is somehow cool to work non-stop and when you're sick. Makes zero sense to me. My guess is the amount people exaggerate goes up the more hours they say they work.

Depends 100% on the project.

Accenture has people work weekends sometimes. I manage myself and have to do it occasionally to be successful.

I think it depends on your line of business. I'm in the SaSS space and most of us really value our free time.

Used to work in Accenture Federal and I had weeks where I worked 80-90 hrs. It all depends. I've worked an odd weekend at D but mostly i tell ppl they're doing their jobs wrong if a team has to work the weekend for something ordinary

like

Yeah definitely project dependent. Definitely not the norm to work on weekends though. I'd only ever ask my team to work on weekends if it's absolutely necessary

like

yeah agree and like how much extracurricular bullshit you find yourself supporting

If you work in delivery/production, then weekend work is likely - at least with my clients. They are poor planners and often have fire drills and emergency projects.
