Is it just me or does it seem hard af to make a million dollars.

Took me about 9 years to make my first 100k NW. Another 1.5 to get to 200k. Another 6 months to get to 300k and another 4 months to get to 400k. Should be at a million in another 3-4 years.

Just stick to the fundamentals with index investing and a few stocks you really believe in with a smaller amount. And don’t forget to plan offense (increase income) and defense (heavy savings)

No doubt it will. I’m only expecting 6% average returns each year in my forecasts which I think is still quite likely considering my portfolio. The bulk is coming from currently having a >70% savings rate and aggressive income growth

If you focus on the journey (how to) rather than the destination ($1M) than it becomes that much easier

First 100k is the hardest for sure
So is that first 1 million
From there the growth is something of beauty, bless Einstein

In income or net worth? Ones easier than the other.

Okay that’s what I thought, but wanted to be sure. On track to hit $100k net worth next fall so excited for the ball to really get momentum afterwards

Should def be doable by 40 if you’re working in consulting or any other high paying career.

Should definitely be higher than that in consulting

Yes the govt will immediately take half of it in taxes, so super hard.

Only the first million is hard. Those that follow will be significantly easier. IT GETS BETTER!

Depending on your income, I don't think it's so hard these days. Once your income hits 200k+, save a significant portion of your paychecks into investments, things really start snowballing.

More a personal finance question than an investment question. A family member is having health issues that I’m having to deal with. Long story short the only means I have available is a 401k loan. I’ve factored in pros and cons of this. Only question is what information will my employer have if I take this loan? Can they use it for denying me a promotion for eg? Arguing that I’m not financially responsible. I don’t think so but curious to hear if anyone had this happen to them?

Any financial advisor recommendations in LA area? Pretty early in career but have around 200k in investable assets and expect (hope) to increase that over the next few years. Assuming a younger advisor would be more interested, but I would appreciate one who’s part of a bigger team. I’m in west LA, not sure if that matters. TYIA!

Hi, I have recently saved some money and wanted to invest it to make something out of it instead of just letting it dry in my bank account.
I wanted to ask if anyone has been facing a similar situation and if you have started investing by yourself (stock picking, ETF, crypto) or just done it through your bank and let them do the work. If it’s the first option, also I would appreciate any advice.

I built a standard Airbnb revenue model in excel for a property and it showed a decent monthly income based only on 30% occupancy rate for a place that has an average of 42%. I can take on about half of that as risk in case I don’t make it based on my income. I’m still nervous. Given this very little information… would you invest?

I’m a 4th year banking associate.

Rarely work on the biggest deals (which often have a senior on them between a mid-level and partner).

Instead I work on smaller matters where it’s just me and the partner (and maybe a junior below).

I want to work on the biggest, most complex deals and I have raised this before. Concerned I am losing out on getting experience from working with seniors but I do enjoy the autonomy and running deals.

Thoughts? What’s best for my development?

I wouldn’t say anything about it, I just want to have a great weekend, but not sure if it’s weird to do that or a waste of money.
