Is it just me or does the general tech bowl seem rather bro-y / anti-diversity? Seems like anything that is posted about improving diversity gets a bunch of commenters trying to shut it down (or talking about "lowering the bar")

i recently accepted a job at an agency that is very white. prior to 2020, in typical industry fashion, they were talking the diversity talk, had DEI committees, etc, but all white leadership and a huge turnover of POC talent. 2020–>now, it seems like they’re ready to walk the walk. they publicly published their numbers, are actively recruiting POCs, etc. but leadership is still white, as is the majority of the agency. sure, change doesn’t happen overnight... but should i stick it out or run?

I'm pretty equally social and friendly to everyone at work no matter gender/orientation (minus 1 or 2 annoying coworkers 💀) and actively try to recruit people to events I'll be at (bcos i help organize them, like volunteering days) but lately I've gotten the vibe that a couple of the guys my age on diff teams we work with often take it as flirting? Semi frequent questions about do i date, where's my boyfriend, are we breaking up soon etc.

Does HC take DE&I into account? Does it help candidates? Yes, I get wanting the best candidates but I also get not wanting a team of 100% one given race/gender/etc etc.

Everyone gets up in arms about what race women prefer to date, but don't care if women discriminate by age, gender, able-bodiedness. It just comes off super entitled.
