.... I’ve gotten that impression too and mostly just post/respond/read things in women in tech now. Perhaps I should keep an eye out and push back against the bro/anti diversity culture over there though...
Let's stage a coup 😈
No, you’re totally on point. It’s cringe af
It’s because the industry is dominated by tech bros and they are the lowest common denominator. I had to leave SF because they ruined my favorite city.
Its so sad what SF has become as a city. My husband grew up there and I can see the sadness when we go to visit all his childhood favorites. We went to Glen Park a while back and left within 15 minutes due to the lack of diversity at the playground and also, no masks. He is appreciating the greater Bay Area much more now. I grew up in the East Bay.

You aren’t wrong. I try to post some thought provoking items there..you should see some of the responses. Bias is presented most of the time. I think since I have “Technical” in my title most assume I’m male. I get the he/him pronoun constantly.
I get the same thing in most spaces and it's super annoying - do you not see how many women there are in your actual workplace?
I just posted about being a diversity hire—I should have posted in my ‘bowl’ which is tech but I knew it would be pointless. So I posted in HR to see if anyone had tips to navigate that arena.
Are there places that anyone would recommend that is diverse and inclusive? I just got out of a situation like that from a previous career and want to avoid that.
The greater bay area is actually diverse and inclusive. I think its an industry thing, tech, wall street/finance, etc.
There’s this woman, Dame Steve Shirley, who saw the same problem, and she started a company, a tech company, who only employ women, until she got told by the government that she can’t do that for reasons of diversity. While I understand that that is taking it to the other extreme, I wonder if that company has a lot less toxic culture while it was fully staffed by women.

I never heard about that!! Wow here I go to Google.
Its a reflection of the tech industry.
Facts.
As a woman in finance working for a tech company, I completely agree with this statement (in the bowl and even in the actual workplace). My experience has really been the company culture and specific team. My current team is very inclusive about diversity and openly trying to make our team more diverse, but I have also experienced the opposite
