Is it legal to have old applications for applicants/new hires to put in their employee files? The way our ATS works is that a candidate fills out the employment app once and applies to numerous positions in the future. They are able to update but The problem is not all applicants update their application all the time so we end up with applications from 2019-2021 because we don’t have time to chase every person to update their application, but we do have any updated resume on file.

I’m not old BUT when I was younger I thought it was important to have all the alphabets after my name (I.e. Phr, SHRM and all the others). I learning that the younger crowd coming into the market thrives off these identifiers yet they know very little about the real world aspects of the job. I watch leadership roll their eyes at the email footers. I feel like keeping those attached to my name hurts my credibility so I removed them…. I’m I thinking wrong?

I am looking for validation here. Is my workload too much? Working for a healthcare organization, where most of my openings are RNs, CNAs, retail and Corporate. I am sole recruiter for 60 vacancies, in charge from req to offer. Boss has WFH for 9months. I have been WFH for 2-weeks for travel quarantine/state guidelines. She now requires that I go back to the office to “show face” that HR is right alongside the essential employees. I have been more productive from home vs the office. I get the perspective of team unity, but is it wrong to feel there is no reason to risk my health? The company justifies increasing my covid risk (high-risk already) to “show face”, when my job is being fulfilled while WFH. Am I crazy?

Does the word “inclusion” do more harm than good? What if the panel we simply said “Diversity & Equity”? My thought here is that inclusion insinuates that anyone who isn’t in the “majority” needs to feel “included”, which could be somewhat off putting. Shouldn’t the goal be for everyone to feel equal instead of simply feeling included? I’d love to get some opinions on this!

I’m in a rather peculiar situation. I have been in the HR field going on 4 years, I have over 11 years of management experience, I got my PHR last year and I recently graduated with my MBA with a concentration in HR this month. I am ready for a more challenging role. However, there doesn’t seem to be much available at my current company. However, I am going on 5 months pregnant with the expectation of being out in October. I feel like once I mentioned my pregnancy I was in a holding pattern.

Recently obtained my aPHR and I’m considering next steps in advancing my career. I am eligible to sit for the SHRM-CP presently and will not be able to sit for a PHR until 09/2023. Any pros/cons with either certification? Should I wait to sit for PHR or go for SHRM-CP now?

Any advice for someone looking to transition into a full HR Generalist role from Recruiting. I’m currently a Campus Recruiter with about 5 years of HR experience (Coordinator- Higher Ed). I received my PHR certification in September 2020 and sitting for my SHRM-CP in two weeks. I’m having a hard time transitioning into a full Generalist position.
