Is it legal to have old applications for applicants/new hires to put in their employee files? The way our ATS works is that a candidate fills out the employment app once and applies to numerous positions in the future. They are able to update but The problem is not all applicants update their application all the time so we end up with applications from 2019-2021 because we don’t have time to chase every person to update their application, but we do have any updated resume on file.

Legally I don’t know!
It may depend on what state you are in and what they opt into upon original submission. Is there a data timeline given, or “keep my data for X years”-type tick box? If you’re not disclosing or asking this now, it is a very good practice to implement, even if not explicitly required by law in your state. Data protection laws in Europe already require this.

This is also a PERFECT opportunity for automation!! If your ATS/CRM doesn’t have automation features for segmentation or communication there are likely tools that integrate.

Automation is definitely needed here!! This sounds like a paperwork nightmare to me personally, so maybe look at what your ATS can offer on that end

Is anyone else applying while in school for something else? Do you also feel pressured to be "perfect" since we need to attach transcripts to our application, where quantitative declines in performance are clearly visible?

I’m not old BUT when I was younger I thought it was important to have all the alphabets after my name (I.e. Phr, SHRM and all the others). I learning that the younger crowd coming into the market thrives off these identifiers yet they know very little about the real world aspects of the job. I watch leadership roll their eyes at the email footers. I feel like keeping those attached to my name hurts my credibility so I removed them…. I’m I thinking wrong?

She now requires that I go back to the office to “show face” that HR is right alongside the essential employees. I have been more productive from home vs the office. I get the perspective of team unity, but is it wrong to feel there is no reason to risk my health? The company justifies increasing my covid risk (high-risk already) to “show face”, when my job is being fulfilled while WFH. Am I crazy?

Does the word “inclusion” do more harm than good? What if the panel we simply said “Diversity & Equity”? My thought here is that inclusion insinuates that anyone who isn’t in the “majority” needs to feel “included”, which could be somewhat off putting. Shouldn’t the goal be for everyone to feel equal instead of simply feeling included? I’d love to get some opinions on this!
