So I've had 2 hiring managers and several recruiters from Amazon reach out to me about applying for some open positions with the company (android). I completed the coding assessment and now they want me to go through a round of 5 hour interviews next week. Is there a good chance I'll be hired if engineering managers are reaching out to me? I'm really not sure how badly I want to work for them and I don't want to be laid off months after being hired on. Anyone know what Amazon hiring is like?

Is it mandatory to get the MBA? Is it mandatory to get a bachelor's degree? Is it mandatory to finish high school?
None of those things are mandatory, but they all help in getting a leg up over the compéticioné.
you shouldn’t be exiting from consulting into an industry associate level role. you’re correct, that would mostly defeat the purpose of consulting experience.

I was at BCG just under 4 years post MBA. Left for a VP role, reporting to CEO, at a NASDAQ listed company and around 3x my starting comp. A BCG classmate is unit COO for a very large hedge fund. Another is CFO of a $2B rev household name company. Those are certainly all above-average exits, but not unheard of. All incredibly unlikely to have been borne from a campus recruiting path into industry.
Two friends of mine from college are both at the same F500 firm now and both did M7 MBAs a within a couple years of each other around 10 years ago, give or take.
F1 went to the F500 right after his MBA and is now a recently promoted director.
F2 did MBB for 3-4 years, did one industry firm for 2 years, then joined the F500 firm and has been a VP for the past two years.
Generally the consulting benefit is that if you position yourself right, you come in a level or two higher than if you'd done industry from the start.
If you work for us you will not see the same outcomes for you and your peers as BCG1 described.
I have a friend from EY no mba who left as a director to be a director on the strategy team at a big tech company. Not a bad result.

Some real datapoints - I left consulting at the two year mark right after making engagement manager. I got 5 offers, and I had classmates at 4 of the companies in strategy roles. I was offered a more senior role (usually 1-2 years ahead of them) and on average $50k higher comp than they were currently receiving.

I have a friend who’s 8 years out of undergrad, no mba, and director or maybe senior director now at capital one. Some people find the environment that fits them and run with it but on average a good consulting firm gives you a leg up

No not at all. Probably 40% of my MBA classmates went to consulting, 30% went to IB/PE/VC, 20% to corporate America (HR, marketing, leadership development programs, finance - CPG, pharma, retail banking, FAANG), and another 10% to social impact related jobs

Feel free to DM me too. I have lots of thoughts on this topic and know how hard it is when finishing up. There are other paths
