Hi Fishes, I have offers from PwC(risk advisory) and IBM(app development). Thing is that the PwC joining is at Kolkata location but I don't want to go there and stay. There is not much difference between the offers in terms of package(10 & 10.4). Can I ask PwC to provide WFH or change my office location for this? Deloitte EY PwC KPMG

Does anybody have any advice when applying to postings with many applicants and getting noticed? The company I am interested in is Figma, and though I reached out to a few technical recruiters after applying through LinkedIn, I am wondering if there might be something more I could do that maybe I’m not thinking about. Also along those lines, if anybody here works for figma I would love the chance to connect

Need help from Amazon 🐠 Anyone interviewed for Amazon L5 BIE in GSF supply chain team? The JD said basic qualifications include data modeling, ETL, data warehousing and optimization. Any idea or experience how they will test these topics? Asking about related experience? Or show some data and ask how you will deal with that? Or like a case study, given a senario and ask how you think in order to tackle problem? Need advice/idea/experience urgently. Thanks in advance.Amazon @BIE

For me it’s amplifying what was already happening. Meaning some days I’m super productive and I climb mountains, others I just feel lazy and feel like doing nothing. The only problem is that if you’re at home you don’t need to pretend to be busy like at the office 🙃
Yeah, pretending im busy is really hard for me aswell, and it's really annoying most of the employers really don't understand this
I’ve actually seen the opposite. People just doing too much and working too hard. You’re at home do you can get things done whenever and however. It causes overachievers to over do it even more
It’s not just you. There’s no routine, no separation. It’s so difficult to feel like you’re at work and in tandem it becomes easy to feel like you’re just at home at work. I suppose the flip side of that coin is you can fill the gap by picking up that slack wlesewhere in the day.
I know many people enjoy WFH either for the convenience it affords to other aspects of their lives (childcare, commute ease, etc) or because they simply prefer it but I can’t say I count myself among them.
Pro
I’m a machine, not me. Being more efficient in both personal and professional life and crushing WFH! (Take with like a spoon of salt)
I am definitely not feeling lazy, working from home. Some people still haven’t set boundaries and scheduled during their workdays. For me, my work computer stays at the desk and I follow the schedule I’ve set on my outlook. That way, I am not overworking but lazy, lol, not at all.
I love it and am more productive - esp since I don't spend 3 hours in traffic every day
That's a very plus point you don't waste time travelling and changing clothes washing etc...!
+1 to feeling lazy
It depends...sometimes yes, and sometimes I work more. I think overall, I feel more free. I'm more likely to be lazy when it's slow, and I'm happy bc it's MISERABLE being in the office stuck when you don't have much to work on. I prefer wfh even when I'm busy because if I have my headphones in and I'm at my desk, I can get work done without being interrupted. I do sometimes miss casual chats at the office etc, but I find my productivity is more in my control now
I've been WFH for most of my career, and this is exactly what happened early on. It took a while to start to learn new boundaries and motivations, and to be able to take a different look at overall productivity versus maintaining a strict "8-5" schedule.
The same problem at office would have been easily ignored by you.. as seeing & talking to people makes it more lively. While wfh has its own cons. Just my opinion.
Hahaha the people that were already lazy now give themselves reason to be even more lazy. The productive people will always remain productive no matter where you put them
I used to work 14 hurs day and still be fresh and build tons of softwares.
Even in pandemic i used to go to office, since last 4 weeks i started to work from home and i wrote around 3-400 lines of code maximum and always feel sleepy, stop going to gym.
Thanks to remind me i was doing all the best while i was lazy
Not necessarily feeling lazy, but feeling overwhelmed much more easily. Still haven’t gotten in the hang of handling pandemic levels of stress and anxiety.
The person I’m working with doesn’t show up to anything 😫 getting near end of project with nothing to show 😖
Except they are much higher up than me 😒😞
I think I felt more productive going to the office, even if there was a good amount of slacking off / just plain socializing there too
Nope, it's true!
I find I'm more productive, so quite the contrary. I'm also available more of the day. Having to deal with employees who work in different time zones, that's an advantage I can offer my employer.
Nope. My work hours have grown. More meetings but at least for me, I think I lost my "end" time. It's hard because the environment has now blended together. I do miss talking to people face to face in the office though. Especially doing the office pranks 😂
I always find the office more distracting and less productive. Too many interruptions by other people and banter leading into those interruptions. It's fun but not good for getting stuff done.
It’s just you.
Naaah jk, there is ups and downs. Make sure to connect regularly with colleagues even outside of your regular buddies to help you stay motivated.
