Ok be honest, candidates. I really love this set of questions, I’ve been considering shifting my current interview style to these questions - I think they really give you an idea of who this person would be within the work setting. But the questions almost feel too deep for a recruiter to ask. What would you think if a recruiter took a different path and asked these questions instead of the usual ones?

It’s not just PWC. Deloitte does it too. Seekers market, so unless you’re hard up, play hard ball.
Don't join at a lower level. You will struggle to get back your level. Irrespective of what the HR or hiring manager says, we know very well that it will never happen. There will be many others and you will have to compete
Not sure what that has to do with the discussion, but thanks for the input!

If it isn't in writing, it's not real. The "fast track" means nothing without something clear and tangible.
How do you know the band range?
You're saying if you negotiate high you could be capped out say you don't promote within a year?
I’ve been involved in many offer convos for SAs and EAs, I think it’s hard to say if PwC generally does this without having any context to the role or your background. A lot of these comments are pretty skeptical about the firm trying to fit you into the teams pyramid but the reality is we really need seniors so I don’t see why they would turn away a senior if qualified, they may just be trying to set you up for success. If you come in now you could get promoted in July
Thanks for the thorough breakdown. I think this makes the most sense.
Ask them what concerns they have about you performing at your existing level within their firm. If they can't answer that (required cert, etc.) then press for it.
They want to fit you lower on the pyramid in their staffing plan so they can bring in another experienced M and downlevel them as well.
Will do Monday thank you for the guidepoint! I guess I’m really tired of fighting after leaving my current job so I’m pretty satisfied with anything haha l. But will definitely see what the outcome is next week.
You should take it if the salary is good, and the job is right. F the title, everyone in big 4 gets promoted on pretty much the same schedule. You will be a year behind, so what. You have 35-40 years to work. 1 year isn’t going to ruin your career.
Honestly I’m happy with the pay and don’t really care about the title. Thought it was weird for them to downgrade from my original application but F it.

Yup
Honestly I wouldn’t worry too much about the title. I had someone join my team as a senior who used to be a manager at his old firm. I think they just wanted him to understand the process better before taking on a higher role. My client is one of the large AWM clients with a strict methodology of how we do things. I don’t think it would have been fair for him to have been a manager right away on that team. At the beginning he would say “we did it like this at my old firm, let’s do it like that now.”
How many years of experience do you have? If 3+ then push for SA. They will cave, we are crying out for people right now
