Where you all at?? I feel like I have a steady stream of 45 hrs of work, and would much rather have around 25 (even if I am bored). In fact, I welcome being bored so I can have less stress that leaks into other facets of life and focus on things I actually like doing.
Very normal. I'll have 25 hours of real work some weeks and 50+ (rarely) in others.
Thank you! That’s reassuring. Especially with the recession talks plus difference from what I’m used to, it’s been making me antsy to not have something to do at all times. My team also has wanted to meet up to work together but I honestly don’t know what to do if I don’t have much to do that day and people can physically see that.
Yes, it’s normal for your work to vary, but if you want to be essential and move up in the organization, you need to figure out a way to make yourself valuable. In house attorneys do not just do legal work; you need to learn the mission and your company’s business strategies. Go talk to your internal clients and ask what you can do to help? Ask if there are standing meetings you can attend to learn the business and how to be of more assistance to them.

My work load varies drastically. Currently slammed, but a few weeks ago I was signing off at 2 or 3 to hang out with the dogs.
I am very busy, but it (IMO) can very based on industry, resources, and the work environment. I am in asset management and there is always a pile of things I need to get to that grows steadly every day. I tend to push as much to outside counsel as I can. I have worked at places where I had about 6hrs of work a day on average, and I kind of miss those days.
