Is it normal to get let go from work because they’re too busy to train you?

I've been in-house a few years and I have the legal skills needed to do my job down reasonably well. One thing I know I need work on is understanding skills and knowledge of working within the corporate world and skills needed for ascending to leadership roles. This ranks high on the list of "things I think that would be helpful to my practice that is fully not covered in law school." Does anyone have any books/podcasts/general resources that they found helpful in their career?

MM analysts/associates - what are your hours and WLB life? Thinking about making the jump from FDD but want to make sure it’s the right move for me from that perspective. I’ve been working average of 55-60 hour weeks and find it very manageable and am still able to have a life. After spending 4 years as a mid-level ops manager, I tried to break into HR through talent acquisition. Now after 6 years in TA, I've had a hard time getting out of it. My goal was always to get into a more broad HRBP position, but I've since worked for smaller orgs without a solid HR career path. When I ask about my career goals, they keep telling me, "Soon!" Or "Maybe in 6 months!"

I'm testing SPHR in June. Any advice for securing the type of role I'm aiming for?

I’m taking the SPHR in less than 2 months and haven’t started studying for it. How difficult is it? I’ve been in HR for 20 years and have experienced ALOT in that time, although there are always employee relations scenarios that surprise me! How much do I really need to study for this? I just can’t seem to motivate myself to do it, I’m so mentally burnt out at the end of the day from a high stress HR job, the last thing I feel like doing is studying HR!
