Yes, that's all that is necessary if no problems are indicated. You can request more whenever you want - it's your pregnancy. However, they may not be covered by insurance if you're in the US.
Babies don't breathe in utero the way they do once born, so it's not like the umbilical cord can choke the baby. Everything is done through the placenta, so as long as baby is growing well, regularly active (some babies are more chill than others so depends on what is normal for this baby) and vitals are fine at appointments, you have all the info you need to know about what's going on in there.
I didn't mean it as though that was a dumb question. Just explaining to ease OP's worry that it's not as alarming as it may seem. Again, if no warning signs in check-ups, it's probably not a concern and those check-ups are very informative with ultrasounds being an option if something is unclear or there are warning signs.
With my first I was frustrated about the lack of ultrasounds, too but my doctor at least told me I could request them whenever I wanted to, noting that if they didn't have a cause to order one insurance might reject it for coverage.
Having learned more over time, it doesn't concern me as much anymore but who doesn't want to see their baby as often as possible? I'm 33 weeks and haven't since my anatomy scan. It's more of a chore getting them these days with other children to care for and places not allowing them to come with me, but I wouldn't mind another scan. I just don't like the idea of needing another scan.

It’s very normal to not. Also, the cord wrapping issue happens to something like 2/3 of babies I read, and medical professionals aren’t necessarily alarmed by this, which is why your doctor likely didn’t feel the need to react to it. It sounds like your doctor is properly taking care of you by “normal” standards, but you’re always welcome to change to another doctor if it makes you feel better!
Do your research on potential risk of unnecessary ultrasounds. There is lots of info out there (FDA, American college of ob and gyn) warning against medically unnecessary and casual use of ultrasound, especially keepsake ultrasounds. It’s very surprising to me how many people don’t understand how ultrasound waves can heat fetal tissue, the effects of which can affect development. I am personally limiting my exposure by just having the anatomy scan at 20 weeks. Data shows medically unnecessary ultrasounds do not improve outcomes.

And to be clear both ACOG and the FDA say that ultrasounds are low risk procedures in pregnancy.

You can switch to a more involved provider if that’d what you’d like. In my current pregnancy I’ve had ultrasounds at 7, 9, 13, 20, 24, 27 weeks and will have more at 32, 34, and 36 weeks. Perfectly healthy pregnancy and baby, just have an OB practice that doesn’t mind doing a lot of ultrasounds.
At a minimum I’d be concerned that you’re missing the time frame to do an NT scan. I’d be less concerned about the nuchal cord as that’s pretty common.

I have, thanks. And my OB office should make lots of money, they’re excellent at their jobs.

It’s typical unless you’ve had previous struggles (abnormalities, etc.).

For context, I went to a private ultrasound I paid for myself today and the tech said the umbilical cord was wrapped around his neck. I would have never known about this at all because my doctor isn’t ordering anymore ultrasounds. And now I’m worrying about all of the other potential issues that could be going on we just don’t know about. I know I’m being a little sensitive and worrisome for no reason but I’m getting a little annoyed because I feel like my doctor isn’t properly taking care of us. Or maybe this is normal!! Ugh
Yep cord around neck is very common and nothing to be alarmed about. I actually was high risk and had almost a dozen ultrasounds and several non stress tests and they never once mentioned cord placement because they don’t want to stress mothers out. My OB when I shared my concern said it’s super common and nothing to worry about which is why they don’t even tell us. Try not to worry - most healthy pregnancies have two ultrasounds!

I had another at 36 weeks, but that’s it and I don’t think it’s unusual. All the vitals are taken so I think blood tests and vitals would show a problem in between. I’m assuming things are ok with the umbilical cord?
Are you asking specifically about ultrasounds? I had two during 1st trimester, I believe 8 weeks and then 12 weeks for the Nuchal test, and then 20 week anatomy scan. They told me since all my testing has been negative for any issues so far, i will have the heartbeat checked every appointment along with any other standard tests, but it’s normal not to do additional ultrasounds unless there is indication of any risk or issues. I’m currently at 28 weeks

Yup. That’s all I had. As long as they’re no issues, that’s normal
This is also my first and I’m just like you. I only got a 7w and the 20w anatomy scan. My OB doesn’t see the need for “unnecessary” scans but I worry and want to look at baby!
I booked myself a 3D ultrasound for next week🤪 (private center)

D1 there is no link between ultrasounds and autism, nor would I imagine the moms here who have kids with autism would like to hear autism described as a terrible outcome and one to be avoided.

It’s rough but normal unless you ask otherwise. I wish I could check in weekly.
