Is it of to like preparing tax returns, but not enjoying planning, estimates, projections, etc? I wonder if I should switch to audit?

Audit is nothing like preparing tax returns imo

Not odd as a staff. After your thousandth return, it gets old

At least I’d depart from PA easier with audit expertise vs tax

Wuts a tacks return? Forgive me I’m one of dem odditors. Came down wif the rusty brain never been the same

like

Odd**

So you would like to do tie out more(get your brain rusty)?

Short answer - no.

I think once you start understanding the principals more then you will enjoy planning and consulting more. I enjoy having a variety of both. You definitely use a lot more brain power on the consulting side but it’s nice to be able to turn off and just do returns.

@EY 2 Why so much animosity towards auditors? Are you perhaps jealous?

I’m being facetious because EY1 said auditors get rusty brain

I’m in real estate tax group and looking for good books about RE fund/investments/accounting during non busy season. Any recommendations? Thanks!

I started at a new firm this year in January. I had a billable goal that was given to me mid year of around 1750 house for the year. I am nowhere near that and definitely will not meet the goal. I had so many non billable hours I was forced to take when I first came in. I worked my ass off in busy season. At my previous firm I never fell short of hours as it was B4. This firm is mid sized and more focused on WLB. My question is how bad do you think this will affect my comp??

Hi tax 🐠,

I have a question for those who prep individual tax returns. My parents claim my grandfather as a dependent on their tax return and due to their low income, receive PTC for the premiums they pay on his insurance (not eligible for medicare). However, would it be advantageous to have him file for his own tax return (he stays with my parents and doesn't have his own proof of residency via bills). If so, can he get PTC if his income is 0?
