Is this you? 🤣
WLB for longer time will keep you happy but only if you have strong financial background...like coming from a family where your father and forefathers already have done so much that you need not worry about future in terms of finances.
If its not the case then you are probably not in a position to "demand" WLB and "ignore" higher salary...instead, you will be "majbur" (helpless) to go for money even if it needs you to sacrifice WLB.
Thats something very sad reality these days for all of us, our generation, the private job guys !!
Only thing I needed to read about wlb
Chief
Bro leave, don't fall in the trap of comfort zone at 2yoe only, you have a long career ahead.
Keep learning keep growing.
Thank you... I know it's going to be tough... But that's how we will grow
Certain point of time you have to keep chasing money !
Rising Star
If you earn sufficient to sustain your lifestyle and save decent amount for retirement, i wouldn't recommend to switch where you know you'll lose WLB for sure. I assume the existing company will provide annual hike and promotions with time so your salary will grow. In other company bad WLB can be sign of toxic environment which may mean working on weekend, not approving vacation leaves, micromanagement, someone else taking credit of work etc.
You may have seen enough posts about folks cribbing about WLB and they are happy to take a paycut for peace of mind, but once you get higher CTC it's very difficult to chose lower package (even with better WLB). Also the posts where a person earning 3x of what he was earning 3yrs back and yet no happiness or time to spend with friends and family.
Ultimately the choice is yours on how fast you wanna run in rat race and what's your goal. If it's money, then go for switch. If it's some money but also WLB then stay
The reason I'm asking is because currently I'm 9 lpa and 2 yoe.
I am fearing I am getting in my comfort zone too early in life.
The offer is 20+ so it is hard to reject.
Please advise..
At early career.. Should we give too much importance to wlb.?
I also have to get married and so will need to increase my salary
Depends on what is ur current ctc and yoe
I am early in my career 2 yoe.. 9 lakhs
It's hard to let it go but trust me you will get the hike once but after this switching is going to be tough for you.
I have 8 YoE and jumped from 14lpa to 27 before a year.
Now all the companies are ignoring me just by my current CTC. Even product companies like Gartner told me they can only offer 26 lpa CTC and that too after relocation. Right now I get 27 wfh.
For once you'll surely get the hike, but after that you will be bounded to stay in current company for long time no matter you like there or not
Personally, i won't switch . Hike is no doubt great. But what i am facing now, i am now regretting every single day for switching. Mental stress is worst thing in any job
