Advisory Manager 1—huh? Your staff frequently has to tell you to “calm down”?
Yes. How rude!
Am1, I sure hope you're kidding. That's awful. If you're not kidding, you need to develop some emotional intelligence and leadership skills. That is definitely not okay.
Yes, but it’s better of someone who is more senior than you asks them
“I want to understand what you’re saying, but it’s difficult for me when you use that tone.” https://m.imgur.com/r/dundermifflin/TF7fmIa
Of course it’s okay. Ask them why they are shouting. Listen and work out a solution.
I’ve done it
Definitely. Very reasonable to expect common decency.
I raise my voice often with staff. Not yelling at them but more so be situation. They tell me to calm down often. Fairly good relationship between us
Yes. They shouldn't be shouting. Let them know that it is unacceptable behavior. If it continues escalate to counselor/pml.
Obviously use good judgement in all of this. A one time outburst isn't the end of the world as people can get heated. If this behavior is habitual that's a problem.
First of all, it’s highly unprofessional, so let them know to slow their roll. If it’s regular and abusive language, report that shit. Hierarchy goes out the window when it comes to treating everyone with respect
Manager for sure, director maybe ask your manager to do it
Some older directors / partners shout and use bad language. But most of these guys are retiring or forced to retire.
YES!
Wow.. why are they shouting? That seems wholly inappropriate
