I am currently working in a leading architecture and design firm for almost a year now. I have 3 years of experience. When I started in this firm I was told that they will reconsider my position in sometime. I recently asked HR regarding salary review, but he denied and said they are not considering anymore salary this year and next salary considerations would be in Q1 of next year(6 more months). I know I’m being underpaid. What should do or how should I negotiate?

Sidley lawyers, how embarrassed are you right now? Sidley is being trashed and laughed at across the nation (and on ATL), I hope all good lawyers at sidley started accepting those recruiter calls that have dramatically picked up in the last 2 weeks (of course this doesn’t apply to the those near partnership).

Edit* so there seems to be a battle of misinformation on ATL with associates and partners/HR saying each other is lying about comp. For the firm to comment they must be very embarrassed.

Shout out to my boss, who actively recognizes the difficult position I’ve been put in and has offered his help to prevent my burnout. May we all feel so safe+ supported in the face of big challenges.

Does your firm consider Asian Americans to be POC for purposes of partnership promotions, etc.? I have multiple times now been purposefully staffed with other POC (non-Asian) attorneys and have been told to staff juniors who are women. I don’t mind this, of course, but it honestly feels like they don’t consider me an “actual” minority and that it’s not enough. This is a question which I'm curious about people's thoughts. Mostly reflecting on the past since I'm way too far in audit to make a career change. Did I make a mistake by not trying for law school? I took the LSAT when I was a first year associate and got a 168. At this point, the score expired and would need to retake. I know law is riskier than audit. But a part of me wonders if I'd have been better off (except more student loans) if I went to law school instead of sticking with audit?

That point on a Friday, where nothing is going to get done ...

Please please do not ever use CTC comparison between current and next company. If you get an offer, do an in hand calculation. Some companies add Retirals like Employer PF, Gratuity along with Insurance, furniture allowance as part of your CTC. Others don't. Sone also have higher variable package. So when you do a CTC delta you may get a 20% hike but when you discount the above things you will fall short and may end up making less. So choose wisely.

However, I’m curious to know how effective or useful it has been for people who have ACTUALLY gone through counselling when going through marital issues, for example. There are many comments recommending it, but are people speaking from personal experience or because it’s been popularised in web series/movies/TV?
