Use it, keep yourself safe. The government is ignoring the pandemic and a lot of people are not wearing masks and putting everyone at risk.

You should wear one that has an exhale valve - those don’t filter out your potential germs from others. The kind that are solid woven? Yeah I do. It’s all I have and it’s better protection for me and you from sharing germs than many cloth or surgical ones.
Chief
Shouldn’t. That’s a bad typo to make.
Jesus, lol. Social acceptability is so far down my list of priorities.
"I'm not going to minimize my risk of dying as much as possible because it's not socially acceptable."
I’ve been wearing one all along. It’s all I had...
If it doesn’t have a valve, you can and should wear it.
Why wouldn’t you just wear a cloth mask over the valve?
Hospitals might not even accept donated masks. My family tried to donate some and they wouldn't take them
Depends on the center and their capabilities to decontaminate and verify. The last thing a clinic wants to do is give it's staff PPE that is spoiled and ineffective.
You don't need a mask.
I’d stick to cloth. There are still shortages of medical-grade masks in some parts of the US
“Not drawing down limited supplies”? They already have it in their possession? They aren’t drawing down anything. This virtue signaling is ridiculous
Nonmedical grade N95 masks are now commercially available in tons of retailers, so feel free to wear one
@C3 - Yeah I’m aware of kn95– my understanding of D1s comment was that there were industrial-grade n95s back on the market (the kind used by contractors, not by doctors)
The shaming in March was people buying/hoarding cases of masks when medical staff was short supply. I don’t recall backlash for a person wearing the mask.
Serious question : this has been going on for four months. How is there still a shortage of masks and PPE? Is all the talk of the American spirit and American exceptionalism beginning to ring hollow for you guys?
Chief
There isn't a significant shortage of general PPE and prices have been crashing for weeks now (though this is mainly due to increased production in places like China and India, not necessarily America).
With medical grade N95 masks, it's a different story because they are somewhat complicated to manufacture and there are significant distribution issues.
If you have a flt coming soon, save it for that!
