Is it possible for an organization or government entity to be grantor of a revocable trust? I know that some nonprofits and municipalities manage trust funds (i.e. land trusts and community housing trusts), but is the organization/city considered the grantor in these cases?

Not sure. That is really a question for that government entity and their counsel to determine.

Without knowing the facts, I don’t see a situation where a government would need to set up a trust and I can see situations where that might cause issues regarding taking funds out of the normal accountability system.

Nonprofits, banks, etc. can be the trustee or the advisor to the trustee. That is different from being the grantor.

Three observations from my market analysis this week:
1) Still work to do in repairing damaged trends with only energy and financials up over the last month
2) Technology has issues with rates, valuations, and supply chains for chips, so this could be heavy on the indexes
3) Setup for the week is concerning with OPEX, lots of data releases, and almost no IVOL premium - lots of event risk and limited hedging in place

How do you deal with anxiety at work? I get very anxious when things are out of my control, and also when not being able to check emails 24 7. It always turns out things are fine and there was no need to be that anxious. I think I make this job even more stressful than it needs to be. Any advice?

My firm has a collections budget (80% of your billable rate x 1850 hours) and an hourly budget that must be met in order to be eligible for a bonus. The firm cares very little about originations and will reward someone for making their collections over someone who brings in new work. I missed my collection budget due to some odd timing with a client, but originated more than all my peers so no bonus for me. I’ve been at this same mid level firm for 9 years and it’s all I know. Is this normal??

Plaintiffs counsel took my clients deposition today. He mentioned that he would likely be ordering the transcripts and I suggested we split the cost of them (in front of court reporter). He got pretty defensive and said absolutely not, it’s unfair to the court reporter, and that it is frowned upon in the industry to do that. Each party orders (and pays for) their own copy. I’m in my 2nd year of practice, never heard such a thing. I’ve actually split the cost before! Curious for insight on this…
