Is it possible to adopt another adult in the States? Someone I’m close with has been in the States for 6 years and is on a education visa from South America. Any options of keeping them here?

Adopting or marrying someone strictly for immigration purposes is fraud.

Happens all the time

I don’t think other than marriage

Yes, my cousin adopted an adult. We aren’t close for me to reach out and ask (also not too familiar with this area) but it is possible.

Gays used to do this in the 60s and 70s to make all the legal trust and estate issues easier... I don't know if it's still as easy as it once was.

I use the word gays some - fellow member of the “gays”. I don’t think it’s derogatory? I guess it’s depend on the tone and context. Personally, I think your context and tone was an acceptable use.

Can marry them, I know a two people who did this the past 1-2 years during the increased ICE pretense (little bit different since they were all dating before, but they had overstayed their travel visa and could’ve been deported so they just got married).

Talk to me about au pairs. What was your experience? How much did it cost? What service did you use to find one? I have a baby and a toddler and they go to a great small daycare but we are moving and I am considering hiring an au pair instead of hunting for a daycare that I am comfortable with.

Hi all, my H1B has been approved and the H1B application was filed through consular notification. Is it possible to switch jobs before getting a visa stamp? Just worried as it would take at least till end of 2020 to get my visa stamped!

I feel trapped. I hate consulting, hard work, corporate life in general. I have so much student debt after MBA school that I have to take these high paying jobs that require a lot of effort but I just don’t think I’m built to do this forever. I don’t spend much on other things but it’s scary what happens to my finances if I make a major purchase like a house, have a kid, etc. Not sure if I’m asking for advice or rambling

D fishes. If you didn’t get selected in H1B lottery, and this was your last attempt, worry not. I too sailed on the same boat. Now I am on day 1 CPT. There is a brighter side to this. IM/email me for more details.

Hi , need your opinions- Which is better? A senior financial analyst working in CP&A, Amex or Senior Associate Manager in EY, TAS, Financial Due Diligence team? Appreciate your views!

Mamas how are y’all surviving going back to work after leave. I feel like I’m sinking over here. I’ve been back for a month and was put on a project with ridiculous hours. I’m literally on meetings while picking baby up from daycare, during feeding time, and after putting baby down to sleep. I have help, but my husband is working long hours as well and he actually commutes to the office everyday.

I’ve been told by my firm that I need to get a corporate amex card. I’m new to consulting- can I still use my own credit card to get the points and expense that way? If it’s the corporate card can I still get points for it also or does it only go to EYP? Curious to know if a corporate amex is even a good thing or the benefits for it. Thanks!

Fortunately, I'm a regulatory attorney. So, it's mostly client investigations and assistance with due diligence. But, still. Ugh.
