I’m in government consulting (DHS) and I don’t travel at all. Was previously at Booz and maybe traveled 3 or 4 times over the course of two years for a similar client.

In my experience, only those who want it and are gung-ho will travel, especially internationally. But I've mostly just done done contracting and staff augmentation.

Any interest in Deloitte?

Yup. Happy to refer to GT if you're interested. Great WLB.

At booz. Traveled rarely before covid. Now we are posturing for telework indefinitely. It really depends on the client. If you can deliver remotely, then your probably can work remotely.

Am I the only one that wants things to go back to the exact same way they were before COVID when this is all over? So many people seem to be excited for things to change as a result of this (permanent WFH, no handshakes, less work travel, etc.) , but I was pretty happy with life before this...

I’ve never had to travel to client site before (always been in local roles). We have a client dinner planned at a nice restaurant with the entire team. Is it ok to wear a nice turtleneck or nice sweater and black jeans? We have 2 days at a kickoff which I’m planning to wear business casual. But I don’t know if that should be the case for dinner too?

SO and I are going to Maui in a month for 6 days. I have been before but SO has not so we will be doing the basics (Hana, Mt H). We are staying in Kihei near Keaka Beach and have a rental car. I already searched this bowl and still looking for recs for: - food and drink (Mama’s is booked til April) - hikes - cool places to stop on Road to Hana - best snorkeling - other misc tips, things to bring, etc TIA!!

You know how 90% of a really long flight is ok, because you’ve prepared yourself for a really long flight? But that last 10%, the seams of your pants are digging into your leg and you can no longer ignore that and the other inconveniences? 4 more weeks until BB’s due date. The baby is in the 99% in size and everything is hard to do. I pee all. the. time. How can I reclaim some comfort?

Do you have a happy childhood? I don't. The only person that was kind to me was my grandpa. He is dying but I can't go back to the home country to see him at his dying bed because of the strict 14 days in hotel isolation requirements. Heartbroken 💔

Am I crazy? Started talking about having kids and my response was I don't want to have kids until I have x amount of saved for a down payment...here's my logic if we don't have kids we can can save about 40k a year. If we do have kids we can probably save 15-20k a year. If we wait 3 years (live in HCOL) we won't have to worry. Wife thinks I'm crazy...

Anyone traveling to any areas seeing high breakthrough covid cases or are you limiting travel? We have a trip planned next week ✈️ and the town is one hour away from a city with one of the largest spikes in the country. We’re vaxxed but kinda uneasy now since you never know who could get really sick with it. Also found out one of us is uninsured. Curious what approach others are taking with travel.

Is anyone dealing with pressure to travel/attend in person events? I’m pregnant, there is no vaccine for my young children and therefore we are still taking precautions pretty seriously as a result. Seems like “I’m being careful because of Covid” is no longer an accepted excuse
