McKinsey & Company Can someone recommend the top consulting firms to look at for HCLS opportunities? Preferably firms with a dedicated BU in HCLS focused on advising as well as project based work. I am currently in discussions with Huron. I have looked at Oliver Wyman (appears to be heavy on payor and Rev Cycle), Deloitte McKinsey & Company and Capgemini I’ve reached out to McKinsey but didn’t receive a reply. Any direction/advice and referrals would be greatly appreciated!

If it’s consular processing, you can delay switching from F1 to H-1B as long as possible. You also save on taxes as you don’t have to pay FICA taxes on F1
i did that..you can push it as far as your f1 expiration

“The IRS has published regulations which stipulate that aliens who arrive in the United States on F,J,M, or Q visas will be assumed to be "NONRESIDENT ALIENS," but only to the extent that the assumption is consistent with the residency rules of IRC section 7701(b). Since the social security/Medicare tax exemption for foreign students, scholars, teachers, researchers, and trainees under the Internal Revenue Code requires that the payee be a "NONRESIDENT ALIEN", then the social security/Medicare tax exemption ceases to exist at the point the payee becomes a "RESIDENT ALIEN" under the residency rules of IRC section 7701(b).”
“Foreign students in F-1, J-1, M-1, Q-1 or Q-2 nonimmigrant status who have been in the United States more than 5 calendar years are RESIDENT ALIENS and are liable for social security/Medicare taxes"
...my H1B is “consular processing” and has something to do with having to go get a stamp outside the US in order to activate it. If that’s the case, can I do that much later (closer to F1 expiry)?
Was your h1b filed as Consular Processing or Change of Status (COS)?
Consular, I believe. I had to travel back home in June so they advised that my case is to be filed as consular.
Assuming STEM OPT. 1 year otherwise
Yes if you can get OPT and consular processing, I know a handful of people who did that
Thanks! So whenever I get the stamp, that’s when my new visa is effective? How long does the process usually take?
Can our status be changed from COS to Consular Processing in the event our H1 is pending? Mine got picked in the lottery but I am still waiting for the decision and have a trip coming up.
I did that. Just gotta notify your lawyer
