Is it possible to do FDD for tax ppl? Currently I have some experience with real estate FDD and financial analysis (CFC, PFIC, subpart f, etc.) But my title is tax staff.

Have you thought of getting into TDD since you’re already in tax?

Do you mean tax due diligence? Currently we only have fdd and snt trans diligence opening

Yes. You can absolutely do FDD coming from tax. I had international tax experience as well and was given the opportunity to “rotate” (more like intern) on FDD from tax. And then I stayed on.

Thank you!

How much is “some experience”? Would you want to do tax due diligence instead?

My boss just gave their notice (3rd boss in 2 months) and told me to get a new job based on “mud within the executive level” of the organization (~5 years, 2 rebrands, etc). I’ve been there for 18 months. Looking at the recession expected to hit Canada in early 2023, I feel stuck; hiring is slow everywhere but jumping ship now means I’ll be the “last in the door” at most places. How would you navigate this? The decision will be made either way, but ideally I could move into something better.

How does one find direction in what they want to do in life? I don’t find my job as a tax manager fulfilling and my busy time conflicts with some of my favorite hobbies, skiing and snowmobiling. I find it hard to determine my next step because I’m all about relationships, love my clients and am a sales/big picture thinker, so naturally industry doesn’t interest me. I’ve been super lost for a few years and think I need to act on my unhappiness and get out while I’m young. Any advice?

Looking to break into M&A late in my career. Primarily involved with tech. implementations throughout my career and IT Strategy topics. I do have an opportunity lined up at a mid tier strategy firm(via referral).

It’s scary to switch careers this late. Should I first start with IT Due diligence before trying to branch into anything else? Is the NYIF Mergers and Acquisitions certificate worth it? Would really appreciate any advice and guidance from all you M&A folks. Thank you!

Hello everyone!
I’m seeking advise from fishers. My brother in law is going to university next year. He was engineering (which is one of the worse decisions someone can do from my experience LOOL). I told him if anything he should do managment engineering which he got accepted to. He also got accepted to Mcmaster- information management systems. Which in my opinion you get a bit of everything! And this degree is picking up a lot of traction’s across tech. More thoughts in the comments

Hi! I have worked in management roles in tech, mainly in analytics, for approximately 10 years. My TC has fluctuated (currently around 135K CAD), but it seems like it's relatively easy to breach the 100K bar, but hard to breach the 150K bar. I now work at the CBC, but I have worked in the private sector too. What is the most realistic way to move to 200K? 1) Continue moving the ladder to a VP position, 2) Switch to Pre-Sale, 3) Switch to Consulting, 4) Work from a U.S. company from Canada.
