I kept it low a lot and only did 16 full M-Th weeks in 4.5 years. Monday 10pm flight to Th 2pm flight far more common.
No. Good mix of local clients. And focused on work that didn’t need high touch/had small client teams. Lots of M&A (target screen, DD, some pre-MI), Corp start, TSR, growth Strat. Higher touch stuff I did (op model) was mostly local.
I also don’t travel and I’m from DC. Fed and energy are huge here
It’s pretty easy at most Bain North American offices
Can you post / DM what groups do you work with? <I’m right now going through an injury but don’t want to hold my lifelong dream of working in strategy for once. >
That will be so helpful, thank you!
Oils and gas or chemicals in Houston, retail/cpg, telecom in Dallas, tech is Austin. Multiple different industries in Chicago. In many offices >40% of work is local and if you have a compelling reason staffing can make that happen. I have been 100% local for the last year because I have asked staffing for that. The drawback is I have been in three different industries. So if you focus on capability not industry it is a lot easier to be local.
