Is it possible to have good performance reviews but not receive a full time offer after a summer internship?

Possible, yes. Usual, probably not. But if your personality doesn't seem to fit in the group, I have at least witnessed lengthier discussions about whether or not to make that offer. Expressing something like you only want to do this for a short period of time, i.e. A year or so before going to law school or becoming a landscaper can also have an adverse effect

The constant inflow and outflow of interns in public accounting can be really frustrating, especially when you have a couple of interns and there's pressure from management to give them something meaningful to work on. It takes a lot of time to bring them up to speed if you want to assign them real work. Many of them can't even work in Excel. Look, I have a job to do. I don't have time to babysit.

Yes, offer also depends on the availability

We had two amazing interns this past summer that are better than some of the first years I've worked with so idk why some of you have this negative intern attitude. It all depends on the work you responsibly give them and the coaching. Just like a first year.

Everyone here seems to forget that they themselves were at one point in time an intern. You will always get some bad interns in the group

Interns are a waste of money and space ... I never get the idea of hiring interns, all they do is go Disney retreat and make photo copies and then go back to school for a better job offer ... waste of my time to entertain them... I always give them great greetings but I wouldn't give them full time offer if it was up to me.

Maybe you need to use them? In tax interns are treated like new hires and expected to perform the same job, prepare workbooks, prepare tax returns, etc. in one of of school you don't learn enough to be a better straight hire graduate than an intern.

I don't mind investing in interns if I know they will come back as associates; but I hate when I get pressure from management to keep them busy if they have stated that they don't want to do public long term or have three other internships lined up. At that point, it's a waste of my time.

As I think through my undergrad experience, I realized that I did nothing remarkable. “So few so” that I don’t know what to write for the essay. Many of my peers gained valuable leadership experiences at various clubs or organizations. But I only had a year-long IB internship. Now I am in consulting and that IB experience seems to be more irrelevant. How dare I compete with the other wonderkids?

I am an interdisciplinary studies major concentrating on organizational leadership and sociology. I have 17 years of management experience already and I'm not young. I will need an internship this summer, but I tend not to get calls on my applications. I'm nervous because I will need the internship to graduate, and it needs to fulfill expectations of both OGL AND SOC. Human resources, DEI, talent development or acquisition, ethics, all would be great (I think). Best places to look? Thank you!

Are they under the impression you are interviewing with multiple competitors or do you throw out a base and sign on bonus amount during preliminary discussions?

Will they be still doing any background verification or this is done ?
