Is it possible to jump to a DoD contractor on the mission side of the IC for $200K? I’m at 4+ YOE in consulting, and simultaneously 4+ YOE as an intel reservist.

I love working the mission but I also want the big paycheck. Am I being unrealistic or is something like this attainable?

12 YOE in IC, 4 of that while AD intel and the rest as DoD CTR in Intel or pretty close. Depending on location, area of expertise, and a few more YOE, I think it's possible. But not just anyone gets those positions.

like

Look at it this way, those same contractor spots are open to active personnel retiring after 20+ YOE. Lots of people at that level retire annually. Unless the skills you have are somewhat unique don't expect that level of pay.

Not gonna happen lol

Not going to happen at all, or not with my current experience? What about at 10-12 years of experience?

Yes. Buddy did this at BAH. Like others mentioned, YOE, mission-focused tech skills, and lucky timing all play a part.

like

I mean - you’ve worked in the IC for 4 years in two different capacities. You’re exposed to a lot of the options - especially those options related to the experience you have. Have you seen anybody with your YOE pulling that kind of money? That’s your answer…

like

If you have tech skills it's possible. I'm at 230 with 5 YOE

While I realize they’re not true DoD that would be an amazing jump considering my TC right now is 90Klol

I am currently an undergraduate student studying Computer Science. Can someone suggest me roles that can make six figures? I know that the entry level jobs do not have six figures but later with 3-5 YOE what roles can make $100k-$200k? I am not very familiar with the job roles out there.
Job roles that I know can make six figures are:
Software engineer
Data scientist
Developers

Can you please add other roles to the above list?!
Thanks in advance!

I know it’s not a big deal but I’m so happy to have gotten some kind of bonus this year. Billed 1900 hours, got a $6k bonus ($3700 after taxes). Biggest bonus I’ve ever gotten in 8 years of practice. Job search has been rough so it’s nice to put a W on the board for once. Finally can fix the power steering and put new tires on the project car 😂😂 happy Friday everyone.

For the best response to your post, please include the following:

Your location or HCOL/MCOL/LCOL ("high cost of living" city etc), years of experience, and any other relevant information for context.

Example:

"Engineer in a HCOL with 5 YOE currently making 85k and know I'm very underpaid. What should I be aiming for?"

These variables have a great affect on salary and you'll get better answers the more details you provide.

Cheers!

Hi! I’m a first-year associate working at a large regional firm. I attended a well-ranked, but regional law school and my grades weren’t stellar. School was never very motivating for me, and I put way more effort into internships and networking than my studies during law school. Luckily, I love to network and landed an awesome job at a big firm. Eventually, I’m hoping to work in-house. My question is this, will my grades always follow me? I’ve heard that with time and experience, not so much.

I am at a DoD focused startup that is drafting their military leave policy.

Our PTO is Flexible Leave = they don’t track days worked in return for days off

The draft military leave policy:
- 2 weeks of annual AT can be flex leave
- 2 days allocated a year for PT test

I previously worked at Deloitte and loved their military leave policy, so I am pushing for 2 weeks of AT allowed and 80 hours a year for travel to drill/medical appts/misc days you have to meet active counterparts.
