Noticed this across different industries as well, from tech to financial services to insurance FYI. The skillset requires extensive training and certifications and the demand has really drummed up these past few months. No problem with getting interviews, I’m just sick of juggling a full time job and what feels like several mini unpaid internships lol

It is annoying to b honest. And to be fair anyone could pay someone else to get these done. So don't even see the point of these take home tests

For fti, we started at 7 am and literally the interview was like a full working day which was weird to me. You can't keep taking that many PTOs and risk the job you have for the job you dont have

Interviews are hectic, those long days even worse and take home tests doubly annoying

Too many people know how to make themselves look good on paper. Interviews should be able to get an assessment, but not always. Proving that you can do the work and how you do it are important. I used this method on SWE interviews for years... and we'd talk through their approach and methodology in the Interview. If they had someone else do it, it would be apparent. If they couldn't code their way out of a paper bag, also apparent. Also had the benefit of making folks stand out that might not otherwise.

Royally screwed my final interview (with the global team lead and director) at Facebook. This one got scheduled at the last minute today morning. Completely unprepared, messed up the responses, likely didn’t give them what they were looking for. Right before the interview got pulled on project call. Feeling so dejected, after clearing the last 5 rounds. So close but now so far.

Has anyone here ever worked/considered working in “brand management” at a CPG giant like P&G, General Mills, etc? I just looked up salaries...it’s like $180k for roles with 4-5yrs experience, and those offices are all in the Midwest. You could buy a mansion in Cincinnati with that kind of money! Or more preferably, save 80% of your earnings while working for a few years and then buy somewhere you’d actually want to live. Plus it’s client-side, and something tells me the hours would be super easy

I’m so frustrated with my senior right now. He hops into my workpapers late at night and reviews them even though they are not completed and I have not signed off yet. He’ll do this before it’s even due.

What is the purpose? He leaves issues like “dates are still PY” or “this looks like py balances” for analytics. And I’m just like wtf, yeah no sh*t bro. I haven’t even gotten to that w/p yet. I haven’t had a similar problem with anyone else and it’s really starting to get to me.
