How many days is it acceptable to have 0-3 billable hours when you know a storm is coming?
Hey folks! Hope everyone is safe and sound. Who is working on billable work and who is on the bench ?
I can't wait 'til the day I can quit. As audit ain't nothing but bullshit. Audit programs won't be a bore. Time entry won't be a chore. Realization, billable hours will be no more.
I’m pretty sure colleagues at my firm are inflating their billable hours. Is this the norm? I suspect many of you will think this is obvious and/or that I’m naive but wtf? I find hitting 2200 is tough even with a good sized work load. Am I just expected to play the game? I don’t want to sound self-righteous but if most are lying just to make the requirement, then maybe the requirement should be lower.
Is it just me or the average billable work in infrastructure transactions has blown off steam in the last couple of weeks?
I’d be curious to hear about people’s chargeable/billable hours. What are your goals vs actual, best/worst years, etc. I’ve only ever worked at one regional firm so my knowledge is fairly narrow.

I’ve been working at my job for nearly 2 years and I still feel like I’m getting the short end of the stick with billable work. For example, I’m constantly doing data entry even though I have a masters degree in economics. My bosses already know that I’m frustrated with the lack of opportunity but they say there’s nothing they can do, is it time to look for a new job?
When we’re all comparing/complaining about hours at the end of the year are we including pro bono hours in that total? I’m nearing 2050 billables for the year but I have another 500 pro bono hours that should be added on. At the same time, I keep hearing about all these people straight billing 2,400+. Trying to determine if I should’ve tried to pick up more billable work to stay in the middle of the pack (i.e. not interested in partnership, just trying not to get canned).
Anyone else completely mail it in after giving their 2 weeks? Major senioritis for me rn. Probably had 2 billable hours today. Maybe

How to make long days at the client go quicker?
I recently received an offer from a new firm. I informed my managing partner ab it. He offered me slightly more $ to stay but still didn’t even come close to what I’d be making. I then gave him my 2 weeks notice and accepted the offer with the new firm. All amicable. I had 2 vacation days scheduled, which the firm knew about for months and happened to fall within my last 2 weeks. While out last week, they then told me to not worry ab coming back in and that I am terminated. Thoughts on this?
