Does your firm consider Asian Americans to be POC for purposes of partnership promotions, etc.? I have multiple times now been purposefully staffed with other POC (non-Asian) attorneys and have been told to staff juniors who are women. I don’t mind this, of course, but it honestly feels like they don’t consider me an “actual” minority and that it’s not enough. If there is, e.g., a black attorney and a partner on a team, this never comes up.

Is it okay to wear flats/mules to a job interview?

Does anyone else get super annoyed at having to provide the same information , documents or research to a partner numerous times? Even copying the assigned secretary doesn’t help because they just regurgitate the request rather than saying “hey she gave this to you already”. Before accepting full time offer for IT audit, does anyone recommend just going straight into industry? Don't want to be pigeonholed into IT audit for the rest of my life

So I accepted an offer from Big 4 to start sometime in November for core tax. Now I got an offer from another big 4 firm but in M&A (which I much rather do). Is it crazy rude and am I burning bridges if I now rescind the first offer acceptance? (especially since the offer is generous and they even gave me a 10k sign on)

Why the heck would anyone get their tax return done at a big four accounting firm? You are paying $600 an hour to have your information sent to India where it is completed and then returned to the office where is is “reviewed” by fresh accounting grads, many of which who have never even looked at an actual tax return before. The preparers at H&R Block and Liberty Tax get more training than “preparers” at some of these accounting firms…
