I would personally consider it a faux pas, and if I were a bridesmaid I’d at least to expect that part of my role is the pre-wedding hype team while getting ready! I’d consider that part of the experience!
It’s going to add more stress having everyone on their own timelines rather than everyone in the same room getting their hair and makeup done by the same people
As long as you’re ok if they’re late / you don’t like the look, that’s fine. Someone WILL be late.
I am doing the same thing as you! Hair and makeup for myself as the bride but bridesmaids are on their own. Adding them to the timeline would make us start ridiculously early and having everyone there would stress me out.

I was a bridesmaid in a wedding like this and it wasn’t the end of the world for some, we all just met up and got dressed together after, BUT people were frustrated that they weren’t offered the option as it caused logistics issues for the bridesmaids. There were girls from out of town that ended up just using the same people that the bride used, and the rest of us booked glam at someone else’s house and basically recreated what the bride would have usually offered. There is no expectation that the bride should have to pay if you don’t require services, but think about realistically who is in your wedding party, where they will be traveling from, and the fact that even your typical wash and go type gal often prefers professional styling.
Are you requiring they get it professionally done? Or are you offering them the option, and they can do their own if they’d like?
I’m offering hair but not makeup because my bridesmaids are not the kind of people who routinely do their own hair, and I’m going for a lighter makeup style myself anyway. But it sounds like yours won’t have a problem doing their own! It’s not a faux pas in my mind not to pay for hair and makeup for them
Another consideration is that wedding makeup is often done so it will look great for photos, and will last for a very long time. Are your bridesmaids skilled at doing their makeup in that way?
