Male here. Yes. As long as the client doesn’t care, why should you? Most clients are in sweatpants and roll out of bed right before meetings so no need to enforce strict dress codes on your colleagues. Of course if the client remarks about it, then it’s fine to remind them of reasonable client expectations of professionalism.
I think intention here is key. I would make it clear that YOU are not the one judging here, but you’ve had past experiences with former leadership (drop the name) or clients (drop the name) commenting on it before so future teams or clients might perceive it to be unprofessional, even if it is an outdated perception.
Intention doesn’t matter if the impact is still trash.
I’m black- if another black employee told me that I should wear my hair a certain way.. I would take it as genuine support.
