Try making contact with some of those places you applied and let them know you are still interested and see where they are in their hiring!
I just had a friend that got a call and interview after three years! 😳 🤯
She took the job, I'm happy for her, and will miss her. She was always my go to for advice. 😊😪
Keep a positive attitude and it will find you when the time is right.
Sending good vibes your way!

Maybe, but extremely unlikely
Many schools hire into the first month of school in my area. It depends on enrollment. Don’t lose hope yet.
We have had teachers quit in the 2 weeks before school starts and admin has to scramble to fill. Hang in there. We start the 23rd and just had a job posting go out yesterday. Wishing you the best of luck.
Rising Star
We have had teachers retire at the last minute...
If you thrived as a teacher, take a break! I feel like a teacher mindset can take on any job. We have the grit and critical thinking. The job and kids mold us into forward thinkers.
My first year teaching I was hired on Friday. Students started Monday.
Rising Star
My first year I was hired on Monday night, Labor Day, & kids started the next day.
Not necessarily. Schools often need people last minute due to enrollment changes or teachers' leaving. One time I got hired a month into school. The teacher who originally took the position quit.
I was wondering the same thing. I’ve got a position at another school, but I’ve been trying to switch districts. 😞
Not really cause they biggest need comes day 1 when someone takes another job and leaves them hanging. Be visible keep sending thank u responses n what u think I can work on?
No, teachers quit all the time.
No! I was hired in late August with school starting the first week of September. I applied, got two interviews, and was hired within the span of 4 days!

I have seen hirings deep into the year, including second semester. I would recommend two things:
Get on the sub lists at the schools where you currently live and say “yes” to every opportunity. Consider it training and a job interview at the same time.
Keep applying and widen your search area.
We have had new hires start in late Sept when admin realizes the need for another classroom/teacher.
I once got a job 4 days before school started...and the day before teachers started because the teacher they had hired earlier that summer backed out at the last minute.
Not at all! A lot of hiring will happen in the next few weeks
One of my partners resigned last Wednesday. We start tomorrow….. still no teacher hired. We have the posting out and a long term sub until Thanksgiving at least.
Maybe in Connecticut but not in Alabama.
I got my first contracted teaching job a day before school started when a teacher moved all of a sudden. Teachers are resigning and retiring in droves right now because of COVID and also other issues. Don’t give up hope! Keep the fight on!
Think about getting on the sub lists so you have an inside connection. Many schools hire into the beginning of the school year. Good luck.

We are having what seems to be a teacher shortage. Been trying to get the retired teachers back in the game. Keep looking, teachers have left because last year was the straw that broke the camel’s back. You may try to reach out to them and let them know you are still interested even in a different position.
