Companies are always spending 10s of thousands of dollars to hire people only to immediately lay them off. You should manage your career around that fact. /s/

Which company would you join?

I currently work in Sales with the intention of moving over to marketing in the near future. I received two offers for BDR/SDR roles from Sprout Social and Gong. Both salaries are around the same (Gong - base 63k + anticipated $25k in commission, Sprout - 55k base + anticipated $25k in commission).

I like both companies’ software and it extremely hard to decide which position will get me into marketing faster as it is not a traditional BDR path to take.

I had applied for two job openings in Deloitte USI for ServiceNow Developer role and they rejected the application within 4 hrs of applying stating “Unfortunately, after careful consideration, we have determined that our current position is not ideally suited to your talents, experience, and qualifications.” Can anyone shed some light on this. Are there any other eligibility criteria which I may be failing to meet? My 10th, 12th and Graduation is above 70 Deloitte Deloitte USI Deloitte India

My job (biglaw, finance, midlevel) is a poor fit overall — both in the adhd sense and more broadly in that it doesn’t really play to my strengths. I am also your usual high achieving people pleaser (such a common species in this job). The combination of all of the above means I am unhappily slogging uphill to be a B/B+ associate in a job that doesn’t interest me in the least. I am planning to make a change in the spring. If what I wrote resonates, are you happier in-house? Any other thoughts?

How often are you looking for cases that not only state the law you are looking for, but also come out in your favor.

I'm looking for cases to defend a punitive damages SJ motion that I know I'm going to lose, and I'm trying to find a case that states the quotation I'm looking for, but they all then go on to dismiss punitive damages.

Additional Posts in In-House Counsel

Applying for some in-house M&A jobs, and a big focus is being able to run deals. I of course feel very comfortable running deals from the corporate side and managing multiple teams, but have obviously always had an army of specialists in biglaw. How does this work in house? I’m primarily thinking from a tax perspective — I likely wouldn’t be able to structure a deal (and don’t think many of my peers could either) since we always rely on a tax team, but not sure if that is an expectation.

I work at a large Fortune 50 company. Hi - hoping to get some insight/advice. I’ve been in house at a large private company for a year in a general corporate role (governance, M&A, etc.). I work with the global teams (so it’s a 24 hour job) and it’s relentless—non-legal teams constantly dump work they don’t want to deal with on my 2 person team, but then disappear if there’s something in their remit that I need help with. There’s also just not enough hours in the day to get my work done. Is it like that everywhere?
