While we’re on the topic of teacher disrespect: https://forward.com/life/162899/what-s-with-all-the-teacher-hate/?gamp “Teachers had opted out of the capitalist game; they weren’t in this world for money. There could be only one reason for that: they were losers. They were dimwitted, unambitious, complacent, unimaginative, and risk-averse. They were middle class.”

I simply cannot believe a CPA with Big4 on their resume can’t find a job in this market. I can’t keep the skeezy recruiters off my back these days. Now I’m not saying that every available job out there is a good opportunity, but OP asked about job security not whether ideal jobs are immediately available once you get the letters.
The idea of working for others with a CPA is just a backward move. Unconfirmed statistics, but 75% of CPAs excluding tax guys hate whatever they do right now. They are always looking to move in to a more rewarding role.
I still cant find a new job with the cpa title D;
I'd agree that CPA plus 2 years PA is a guarantee that you will never have to worry about finding a job.
Hard no. Only thing it proves is you can take a test.
CPA is a scam. Don't limit yourself
Cpa only impresses non accountants.
The bots are coming!
You will always be able to find a job...in just may not be what you are looking for.
@PwC1 it’s a “scam” in the same way that a college degree is. It’s absolutely not worth what people think it is, but the cost/benefit of attaining it is huge.
As someone with a cpa and 2 years of public, that's not true. Been looking with no luck for months. Interviews, no offers. They've always gone with someone with more experience. My fucking coworkers.
I’ve also always considered that the CPA gives one the ability to work for themselves. If you leave public, you could always work for yourself or look for contractor/PT jobs.
CPA stands for- Cheap Professional Available- You fig out the rest.
EY1 wtf D:
I agree with kpmg 1 and kpmg2
My more experienced fucking coworkers*
Sad reality is these types of people aren’t limited to just Public Accounting
i think a senior can snap their fingers and find a job but managers it's much harder. I been looking for months with no luck. Everyone I talk to wants a senior not a manager.
Yes if you aren't socially awkward and have any semblance of intelligence.
It’s not a 100% guarantee you’ll always have a job (think Great Recession), but it’s a very big way to get your résumé into the pile of resumes considered for a position. You still have to interview well enough
