Only do it if you actually, legitimately want the MBA as well. Not only is it like $150K, but it’s also 2 years of lost income. And FWIW I also hoped to find a spouse in b school (and also made a career change) but am still single (as are many of my friends who had the same goal), it’s not like it’s a sure thing

I married someone that I met at my MBA. It happened like twice per year. That been said, I wouldn't do it. It is an expensive gamble, like 50% of men were married and 25% were gay, had an incompatible religion, or were not of a compatible age to me. So, check MBAs that accept a large class and check the average profiles for the latest classes. What about joining a country club or going to professional events? A lot of men hit on me when I went to tech or financial networking events.

I met great people using the meetup website (pre covid) in the professional categories that I liked. I like tech events because they tend to be more chill, pizza and beers included or an after at a bar more networking. It will depend on your city, but I will start with a meetup and after a few events you will know who organizes the best ones. BTW, the same MBA students and established professionals can be found during networking events or seminars that are open to the public, advertised by these universities.

Not silly at all. You’d be surrounding yourself with other motivated and successful people while furthering yourself. I fully support you getting an MBA and potentially finding love along the way!

As someone who went to a large business school - odds aren’t great. If you do the market sizing of straight men who aren’t in serious relationships (a ton come in with SOs), then narrow down personal preferences (religion, etc), then consider guys who actually want something serious (not just interested in messing around while partying/traveling) - it gets bleak. Especially when comparing against an outsized proportion of single women looking for a relationship. Certainly happens but most of the couples I knew ended up getting together towards at the end of school, but then may not have ended up in the same city at that point

Very expensive gamble. I’d prioritize the education over the dating pool considering that’s $100k+ investment and not certain you’ll get the guy. Maybe join your alumni group, or other professional groups that host events.

As a current Haas MBA student, I can tell you that most people started the program with a partner already (they’re either married, engaged, bf/gf, etc.) I know of only a handful of student couples that started a few months ago 🤷🏻‍♀️. I wasn’t my reason to apply, but I definitely thought that there would be PLENTY of options to date, and so far it hasn’t been the case.

LMAO. Meanwhile I thought about going for MBA for dating prospect

I met my husband at work (B4). I could see how business school would be a great place to meet a potential partner! Big price to pay though if you don’t think you need it for your career.

Met my fiancé at business school. There were several couples that came from our program and a handful of them are now married. Most as still together. That said, I went for the degree and the boyfriend was the bonus

Stern MBA here. I do know a several couples who met during the MBA and are now married. I also know many more who hooked up for a bit and the. broke up in what is a hybrid social-professional environment. Personally, I found that most of the men I deemed partner-worthy were already in committed relationships coming into the MBA. The available guys were mostly either brash bros making misogynistic comments and constantly trying to one-up each other, or guys who were very awkward. Maybe it depends on the school… Basically you’re asking about a $200k bet with poor statistical odds.

Is your date going to help with the student loans too?

You’re not the only woman to think this way imo (and then they are there “competing” with you for the single men). I went to one of HSW and there were some women in the class looking, and I can think of only one who found someone. People kept early relationships with classmates quite secret, they were not going on a few dates with many guys. I did actually meet my husband during my MBA, but it was not from my MBA program - I just had more time as a student to date and was more chill and pleasant to be around. Had enough of the intense secret dating culture for the MBA students so went to an app.
