Is it silly to want to feel valued by my Partner/Practice Leader?

He rewards me well rating/comp-wise, gives me a lot of latitude etc but OTOH I constantly get blown off for check-ins, multiple emails ignored, excluded from some conversations that might be relevant for me, etc.

Maybe it’s just normal Partner behavior and I should grow a thicker skin, but generally feel emotionally disconnected from him and that my portfolio of work is not integral, or is an afterthought, to the practice.

Silly or not, you get to decide if it’s important to you. It’s just like any other relationship.

Don’t think it’s silly - for many people affiliation is a powerful motivator. Anecdotally, I think far more people are driven by affiliation vs money.

You just have to recognize that (1) everyone is motivated by different things, and (2) has different styles, so the key is to find the balance and not to project your feelings onto the situation. Eg they may not realize you need this and may think you’re taken care of because of other things, and you should think about what you don’t think you’re getting and how to communicate what you need.

Partner 2 seems very reasonable here: we all have to walk in each others shoes and take everything in full context. However, in your case it's a little concerning to hear you say that you are constantly (rather than on a few occasions) getting blown off for check-in, having emails ignored, excluded from some conversations that might be relevant for you. These all relate to being transferred knowledge that you need to do your job. There is absolutely nothing "silly" about having a desire for that. My sense is that by emotional connection you don't mean that you are looking to make best friends, you just want to make a professional connection, at that wouldn't be unreasonable either.

PA is going through somewhat of gut check right now. Employees don't worship the partners like they used to, nor are they captivated by the quarterly lunch at some fine dining establishment. Rather, they are looking to have a professional, legitimate, and productive experience, not just the tenure to put on their resume. They are learning that actual experience is what matters. It's going to be hard for you to do that if you are constantly being shut out of relevant communication you need to do your job. That's not an issue of preference for management style or of a diversity in the means of motivation. It's just common sense, and the partners are starting to realize that.

We should all try to walk in each others shoes. As a practice leader I will tell you that despite best intentions and efforts it is hard to balance everything and make time. Suggest having a candid convo and consider reassessing the need for PTL time vs relationship partner. The partners should all Be working together to support and lead the team. It can’t be one person.

They’re busy. You’re happily one less thing they have to worry about on top of the other 500 emails a day. That they are rewarding you during review time and leave you alone to run your projects is a positive indication of their faith in you.

That’s OP’s interpretation and I’m more inclined to believe that the partner will pull OP in as they deem necessary. Why would they subvert their own engagements?

In re-reading the original post, I’m not clear what the problem is, outside of not getting as much attention as they’d like.

What if you started a new position in the last 4 months then you realize you accepted a salary way below market value? Is it reasonable to try to ask for a raise so early in the position? There are even other opportunities that would offer better salary but not as much educational advancement.

I joined mindtree in Jan 2022. Suddenly there is a 10k deduction in salary in the month of April. The salary slip say 10k deduction as INCOME TAX.
Mindtree says "You come under 20% slab according to the income tax calculations. When all the tax slabs are applied you will have to pay yearly tax around Rs. X amount. So that amount will be deducted in monthly basis."
Why sudden income tax deduction? Why was that not deducted in the month of Jan Feb March ?
How can i recover that 10k every month?
