Is it tacky to put “Aspiring Project Manager” in my LinkedIn headline followed by my current role? How do I communicate my plans to pivot roles and industries on my profile?

It partly depends on what your current role is. You’re listed as “Cost Engineer” on this post. So if you want to be a project manager for cost/value based engineering projects, that sounds like a pretty logical next step. However if you want to be a project manager for a large law firm, that’s a different conversation all together. Not that you couldn’t get there, it just likely requires more time to get there. I’d be happy to give some more feedback if you’re comfortable sharing more details. Either way, all the best in your journey.!

Thank you for your response!

I currently work in cost for an engineering construction company. I am trying to pivot into a program manager role within tech.

Work history
1 yr Cost management
7 yr Estimating/database management
1 yr Project management internship

I can elaborate even more if needed 😊

Based on what you’ve shared, it doesn’t seem like a huge stretch to where you want to go. (But I’m not in the industry you want to get into.) If I were in your shoes I wouldn’t use the exact language “Aspiring Project Manager” I’d highlight transferable soft skills and any hard skills. I’d also follow Austin Belcak on LinkedIn. He’s a great resource for LinkedIn profiles and other personal branding topics.

How do I launch an insurance agency?
Context: I just started a sales role 3 months ago
State Farm. It’s my first time ever doing sales. Huge success so far, (nothing extravagant yet), but it’s only been 3 months. I’m currently selling 50+ policies a month.

I know sales isn’t everything it takes to start an Agency. Where should I try to pursue growth before starting an agency?
Follow Up Question: Is my boss hyping me up or is 50+ policies a month pretty good?

Failure is like digging; you must keep digging to find the treasure.

Our perspective has tremendous power. Use it to dig. Here's how:

- Accept the present situation first before deciding what to do. You can’t change the failure, but you can find your next steps from it.
- You can’t change others, but you have absolute power over yourself. That’s more than enough.
- Be intentional about the next attempt.
- See what others did and how you can apply it to your endeavor.

My boss in the past has mentioned he would like employees to let him know. I am currently starting to look and interview. I tend to think letting a boss know is a bad idea, but interested in hearing from others.
