Is it too late to get into PE for a 33year old male? I am currently a Senior Consultant and wondering if I should try to make the jump to the alternative investment world. I interned as an investment associate at a DFI a few years back before joining consulting and really loved it. I know an internship isn’t the same as an FT role but I am interested in investing. Anybody out here know of any “development programs” for mid career professionals looking to transition to sales? Have a data/analytics b/g., but I’m much more social than a “typical” data/analytics person. Joined an UMM fund a few months back and things have been pretty lax and we haven’t pursued a new platform yet. I haven’t really got to fully own a workstream yet and instead am more task focused and just do what my VP tells me. Would it make sense for me to work at a growth equity backed startup in a strategic finance role?

The PE culture is sick. The 20 something VP was rude to our partner because our team took thanksgiving and the day before off and it was in the engagement letter that we were gonna be off. He kept emphasizing that his team did our job while we were on a break. Dude we are not sick like you and we have lives. I see something about how s**t the PE culture is in every deal we support.

Like these sickos make fun of us for working 80+ hours weeks for them and taking thanksgiving off.

So many VC funds out there how can you tell if they’re a good fund to join if they’re not a big name (a16z, Sequoia, etc)?
